Very good service from Abishek and the rest of the team. Also very clean bathrooms!! We came at 2:30 pm for an English Breakfast and some Italian food on a Sunday. We also had cappuccinos, cake and tea. The Ravioli was good, and my partner ordered garlic toast to go with it, highly recommend. My breakfast was excellent, served on a cast iron hot skillet it keeps the food hot. But, as it is an "English Breakfast" they need to get some of those little jam packets such as marmalade, raspberry jam etc to go with the toast, and perhaps also have some English brown sauce for the eggs and hash browns. Overall, the food was very good including the freshly made cakes. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere because the decor is very English tea-room style, but the menu and name of the restaurant is Italian and they also serve Italian food and play Italian rock and roll pop music a bit loudly, at a volume that its hard to have a soft or romantic conversation (this is a problem in many restaurants in Chandigarh... Very hard to find a place with a romantic setting, with soft BACKGROUND music.) We asked them to adjust volume and now Kenny G is playing softly so it's easier to talk. Now Italian mambo is playing. So I think the owners need to choose - Is this place Italian or English? If they want an Italian vibe then you have to completely change the decor, it's not Italian at all except for the black and white floor, the menu and the music. If you want to do "English Tea Room" (to match the decor) then step up your selection of teas, dont use tea bags and more cakes. Offer English High tea.. that would amazing. And offer other English traditions such as fish and chips and pub "bistro" food like soups and sandwiches and other British puddings. My brain was doing back flips trying to figure out the atmosphere at this place, very English Granny but Italian menu. That's a bit weird but food was great. Please train staff to have more romantic music/volume music not loud Italian rock and roll, more classical and it will come across more authentic. A bit more lighting in the sofa next to the wall area would be great too. The Nutella Mousse cake was very sweet, better for sharing. The Hummingbird cake very good.. authentic butter frosting, freshly made. Very good with Earl Grey tea. Coffee was...
Read moreWARNING: BEWARE AVERAGE CAFE FOOD AT EXORBITANT PRICES
I went on the inaugural day today (mind you there were no inaugural offers or discounts) and was very excited but sadly besides the ambience, there was nothing rave worthy about the heavily marketed hyped place on social media. The music was too loud for a quaint cafe. It felt like we were dining in a nightclub. The staff, which they brought all the way from Dehradun, were polite and courteous but a bit inexperienced and lost if I may say. Although, like I said, the ambience was pretty and decorative, I felt there was too much furniture like the oversized lamps and random flower baskets hanging in the air. In terms of food, firstly it was average cafe/bar food. Secondly, the prices were quite hefty for simple cafe food including your everyday pastas and pizzas. Many of the items I wanted to try weren’t available including desserts. I paid much more than I would pay at any restaurant in JW Marriott Chandigarh (5 star hotel) which says a lot about the average food they were serving, less quantity and unjustifiable pricing of the items. Overall, not an enjoyable first experience (I spent more than 4,700 rupees (2 pax) on mediocre food) and if you are especially coming for the food, I would highly recommend you go elsewhere (suggestion: perhaps Bon Gateau in Sector 7). I could recommend you places with better food, an equally chic atmosphere (if not better) and at much...
