Reposting my own review from Agoda here:

I so so so wanted to like this hotel, but issues from the onset that manifested again later in our stay made that near impossible. When we first arrived, we were put in a room that was completely unintuitive and unimpressive.

Right off the bat, the bathroom was really dingy, with a mouldy shower curtain & showers wired the wrong way (blue for hot, red for cold) which is incredibly disturbing when one attempts to hop into a nice warm shower on a cold winter’s night.

Aside from that, the room (and all rooms at this hotel really) were absolutely freezing. The only heater provided emitted a light bright enough to feel like direct daylight, and an attempt to turn on the air conditioner to an ambient temperature of 25-27*c made us feel like we were living through a mild earthquake, with the intensity of the rattling noises. Barely any sleep for us on any of the nights (had to crack out the airplane eyemasks).

Additionally, robes hanging in the cupboard as well as towels were threadbare and had seen better days. When trying to take a robe from the cupboard in a two penny attempt to stay warm, the entire rack came away and everything crashed to the ground.

Obviously, we decided to speak to staff, but there was no manager or even receptionist type of staff in the hotel (this was about 10:30/11pm). We managed to get someone to send over a service staff member, and after we painstakingly explained the entire situation to him, he turned around and said the equivalent of “well, there’s nothing I can do about any of that, and I also can’t change your room now,” which is not something you want to hear on a cold winter’s evening after a 7h treacherous car ride through foggy conditions.

In any case, in the morning, our room was changed. This new room too, came with a host of issues. For example, every time we showered there, warm water either slowed to a drip akin to a leaky faucet, or was completely absent. Again, this is in the middle of winter!!! The last night we stayed there, I think we had a grand total of 5 mins of hot water combined at an agonising drop by drop pace from the shower, and whoever took a shower later had none at all

Additionally, guest amenities just seemed… lacking. When I requested for a box of tissues because the cold water and cold rooms gave me a runny nose, I was handed a packet of serviettes/napkins that one would use at a restaurant/cafe which I had to spend the night blowing my nose with. Breakfast was an small buffet with the same few items repeated each day, and was meatless (eggs were there). Furthermore, on our last morning, we went down for breakfast when it opened (8am) but full service of breakfast items we requested (toast lol) was only available at around 8:30. Not what you want to hear when you’re chasing a morning flight!

Also, please take this with a pinch of salt because I do not know how far this is true and nor am I claiming that it necessarily is… but, there is a lot of chatter especially on google reviews that this establishment is allegedly paying an agency/individuals to provide 5 star reviews in exchange for money. I will only say that my experience was most certainly incongruous with the 4.7* rating (with 2.2k reviews) that this place has on google, and I understand that they may have been having an off few rooms (maybe the 2 we stayed in out of the 14 this hotel has were both duds) but I would proceed with caution and be aware that there might be certain lapses in standard when...

Murphy’s Manor!

I picked this place because of two key aspects. One aspect was it being located in a secluded area nestled within greenery in a chaotic and crowded city! Other it is one of the original Boutique hotels of the capital city. Both turned out to be a big negative! The fact that it was packed inside a protected residential colony(Friends colony) made the access a bit complicated (even for ride-hailing!). And the hotel is clearly losing its boutique elements. I had also chosen this place mainly because of its glorified Fitness center, which the front desk mentioned upon check-in (without much of an apology, was closed for renovation! This was so wrong. The least they could have done is mention in the mail or the messages they send guests pre-arrival about all things not functional so that guests know what to expect upon arrival! But they didnt bother to inform.

Also, like Murphy’s law, everything seemed to break down or not function properly during our stay. The Gym was not open. The flush wasn't working in our toilet. The Wifi connectivity was so terrible I couldn't attend any of my video calls easily. The Coffee machine was not working, so we couldn't even get a simple hot beverage like black coffee. The list goes on! The stay was a big disappointment in general. The only reason I am even giving it 2 stars is because of the very staff who tried to make up for all the failures.

LOCATION: Located in a very residential Friends colony with no access to any kind of F & B option or shops. So you will be a captive guest for most parts!

DINE + DRINK: INJA the Japanese/Indian fusion cuisine is the main option for Food and drink in the hotel.

ROOM: We stayed in Room 4, so this review is based on that; VIEW: No view as a huge wall was blocking anything beyond the sit-out attached to the room; SIZE: Barely spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Ok quality toiletries

FACILITIES: No Gym as it was closed for renovation. And No Swimming pool (Which is a huge missed opportunity!)

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to DEEPAK at the Front desk

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Super low-speed Wi-Fi t. A super small Plasma TV screen dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in...

The food and beverage industry in India is undergoing a constant change with introduction of new flavors to the Indian Palette and amalgamation of Indian spices with Western flavors have spoilt us rotten by all the new options being introduced to the food menu. Contemporary Indian food is gaining leverage not only at national level but is also a huge success abroad. While many Indian restaurants boast about their extensive menus compiling of age old Indian dishes served with a twist, the latest entrant in this field is IN-Q which recently opened it's doors for people who love food and have a deep understanding of flavors. The young chef Aditya Kumar Jha spins magic with a special tasting menu which starts with Opalys white chocolate which is sourced from France and filled with spicy mint water that adds a kick and an unexpected flavor and is also served as a pallette cleanser- Just brilliant! Their food has a healthy take on traditional Indian cuisines and it's marriage with Western food elements just like their Buckwheat Kachoris with Kuttu shell which is stuffed with tamarind, avocado and wasabi. Their sambar soup stole the show with miniature fried and steamed idlis and clear lentil broth which is light on the stomach and boasts of balanced flavors. Butternut squash and Okra Crispy can be skipped from their menu while their creamy kofta will leave you drooling for more. Their coconut Pysam Candy sprinkled with matcha dust might leave you confused because the sweetness expected from a dessert was truly missed but full marks for presentation.

Service excellent. Design of hotel, beautiful. A bit out of the way from everything and traffic is a nightmare. As it’s in a posh area and closed off from the less fortunate ones, it’s a bit pretentious. Apart from that a enjoyable stay.

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Manor. The building is stunning; decorated to fit the design of the exterior. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, with a special mention of the talented bar-man, Supradeep.
