One word to explain the overall experience : Amazing!
The Upside:
General: Recently renovated, lavish inside-out, compact and very much chilled like Goa!
Location: Near Vagator and Anjuna beach, both within approx 2-3 km distance
Hotel: Neatly designed and nice ambience
Room: We stayed at Okean Premium Room recently (Room #313) for 3 days, one of the best rooms in the hotel with pool view. There isn't much of a difference between other rooms except room sizes. Suite room comes with a big bathtub. Our room has all the necessary amenities that tourists usually need as per their website.
Food: We had dietary restrictions of Jain food and they served it quite happily. Probably the best quality Jain food in Goa with great taste (Trust me, we ate in Navtara, Sagar etc. But this had a great food & taste. Also the prompt service unlike Navtara & Sagar, which are terrible.) At Okean, They don't have a separate kitchen for Veg food but they do have separate sections and utensils.
Chef Tapan served delicious Jain food. Ali was happy to manage it. They even cared to serve Jain food in breakfast especially just for two of us. Thanks a ton for the effort!
Food rates do not justify the quality and taste. Even though it's a 4-star hotel, the rates were almost like any other veg restaurants in Goa.
Service: Staff is polite and helpful. Whoever I came across, including Vinay (manager), Siddharth (Owner of the hotel), Preeti, Ali, Rajesh... Thanks for making our stay memorable!
The Downside: Staff isn't experienced but I'm sure they will learn a great deal once they come across more tourists and will become more professional with every passing day.
Very limited options being served in breakfast, even though their is variety every day but we felt there was room for more standard options such as cornflakes, chocos, hot milk, juices, desserts etc. that are usually offered in 4-star hotels.
Even though its recently renovated there were minor issues with AC, room cleaning, replenishments etc. But staff was prompt in sorting out the issues once it was brought to their notice.
Overall, it was a great experience. Its a great experience if you are looking for seclusion away from the hustle-bustle of Baga.
I would certainly recommend Okean de Goa to those who are in need of privacy and seclusion with close proximity to quite beach like Vagator for enjoying a beautiful sunset!
I would love to come back and enjoy my stay (again) in Okean de Goa...

I had booked it for 4 nights initially, but by gods grace I changed it to 2 nights. Even those 2 nights I feel wasted.
Let's start with cons: Reception Staff is rude/ untrained/ below IQ people who are ready to start argument on any matter with which you will have discomfort. Let me tell you the instances a. During checkout, the reception guy started arguing with lady whose family didn't get the balcony room even though she paid for and was there to discuss the matter after 4 days of stay. However, the reception guy started arguing and demanding payment in a roadside manner and this continued for 15 mins. The whole scenario was avoidable, if the staff would listen and understand what she was saying. b. This is my incident. I left room at 10 in morning and asked the reception to get the room cleaned knowing that cleaning time is between 2-5 pm and i would return at around 5. Although returned at 4:15 only to find room was not cleaned. I called the reception to ask why and when it will be cleaned. Again the reception guy started, cleaning time is between 2-5 and it will be cleaned between 2-5, you were informed during check in and blah blah. I askef him what time it is and why is he saying 2-5 when it's 5 already. He cited other guests rooms are also to be cleaned and blah blah. He was very adamant and rude in his tone so I asked in how much time he can get it cleaned, he said can't commit. So for these petty things you have to unnecessarily argue with bone headed people. Drinking water not available. Unfulfilling the requests and not able to cater to guests requirements which is the basic of service industry. They don't give you regular water. They only give 2 bisleri bottles each day. I had asked for water after my packaged water got over. They sent 1 glass of water. This is snatching basic rights of humans by refusing regular water. Restaurant services. Any decent place and even not so decent place would charge the restaurant bill to your room and you would pay during checkout. But this hotel would want instant payment (in their words) after every meal. Denied service during breakfast. They wouldn't give me menu let alone take order during the buffet timings even though it was post 10 in morning.
Pros Security guards smile and his helpfulness with pur luggage. Bathrooms.
There's no reason to choose this place. Even the room didn't...
Read moreI wish there was option for negative ratings... To start with - The type of room committed to us on the was Suite while the room at the hotel was very far away from being suite. It was the supposedly the smallest room of the resort with no amenities. On complaining they shifted us to a new room which was almost the same... While we had seen much bigger rooms being empty.
Zero hospitality Okean de Goa. Things that went wrong at the hotel which added to very poor customer experience - Things wrong with the stay/ hotel room- a. Dirty Bedsheet and stained which they changed after we told them b. Water issues in the hotel... No water 24*7..water pump issues c. Frequent powercuts every 5-10 seconds d. Tea/ Coffee kit that was just leftover from the last person who stayed over... No spoons and mugs to make tea/coffee e. TV not working f. Exhaust fan in washroom just hanging namesake. g. Not properly cleaned towels were given to us. When told them for room cleaning... We used to come back to the room where sometimes towels are not there sometimes kits are not replaced or toilet rolls not replaced. And on calling the reception for atleast 3-4 times that is when we get it. Things wrong with food - h. Breakfast options and kind of food served for breakfast pathetic. Rock like medu vadas, dry poha, dry idlis, extra generous over use of black pepper powder which was enough to burn our throats and stomach in Chilly Basil Paneer. I. Also what kind of a 4 star hotel keeps plastic spoons for buffet and while fork and knife were of steel. J. One one table some other guests had asked for a bread omlette which that didn't touch at all and let the table. While we were ready to sit on the next table the server not knowing we already saw that comes to us with the same bread omlette in hand and asks will you have bread omlette. Like really
K. For all the things called the hotel will take it's own sweet time to respond but when it was out checkout day within a span of 30 mins we got 2 calls from them...
