Planet Bollywood!
First, let me get all the negatives out of the way. Though the pictures online look and portray this to be a stylish luxury hotel, this is far from it. The place is certainly as far from a real ‘Planet Hollywood’ experience as an aspiring Bollywood action film that tries to compete with a Hollywood action classic! It feels a lot more medium-category, especially in the common areas like the breakfast restaurant and other common areas. The F & B(Food and Beverage) part of the hotel is the biggest weak point. Given how captive you are, this was a big sore point as we had to suffer through some poor-quality food throughout our stay. The North Indian dishes were good enough, but anything else on the menu (South Indian, Asian, International) was far from authentic!
But if you are willing to ignore these and soak yourself in the pampering hospitality and other aspects of the property you will feel the beachfront luxury in different ways. Decent amenities, Proximity to the beach, Warm & welcoming staff, and the Roamntic Chalet we were in more than made up for the shortcomings. You can enjoy lovely evening walks in the endless stretch of beautiful beachfront that hugs the property. We felt at home throughout and didn't mind any of the negatives ONLY because of the wonderful staff who took care of us like family!
DINE + DRINK: They have multiple dining establishments including FAME (the pure vegetarian modern Indian restaurant). But our favorite was the POSEIDON COVE which is located right on the beach. Almost felt like a beach bar. Great palace to chill with drinks, but dont risk trying their food as it is not the menu that is confusing - but also the preparation and style of cooking! It is a shame as given the mindblowing location of the Bistro, they could have done a lot more. While the Chefs at the hotel were quite good, the dishes on the menu and the quality of the food delivered at Breakfast and POSEIDON fell short and didn't taste authentic. We were saved by Executive Chef YOGINDER who delivered a delicious Goan Thali for our final dinner by the beach. That was THE highlight of our stay, but unfortunately, those dishes were not even on any of the menus! The breakfast restaurant is a circus in the morning and could have been surely better organized given the huge volume of guests at the property. Clearly, the F & B head has a lot of things to figure out and improve at the hotel!!!!
ROOM: We stayed in Room 909, which was an Ocean View Chalet, so this review is based on that; SIZE: This was a stand-alone Ocean bungalow kind of Villa that was Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Spectacular view of the UTARODA beach from the lovely Patio/Balcony attached to the front of the Chalet that was literally steps away from the Ocean;
FACILITIES: A good-sized Gym with a decent range of weights and Cardio machines fit enough for a full-on workout. The outdoor swimming pool has been nicely designed in Balinese style with lush greenery surrounding it and also comes with a cool Swim-up bar. However, it gets crowded most of the time, and not very pleasant to lounge or chill. The property also has a nice SPA and other recreational facilities like a small pool table and Table Tennis table.
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to Mr. AJAY PATHAK (Director of Revenue) for enhancing our stay, and to Subha/Rajul and the rest of the Front office team for a warm welcome. Thanks to Chefs at Breakfast(PANKAJ & his colleague) who whipped up super healthy customized Salads for us during breakfast. Of course, a big thanks to the housekeeping team for keeping our room spic and span and smelling like a spa throughout our stay! But the biggest credit goes to AMITABH who was almost like an angel to us and took care of each and every one of our needs so attentively throughout our stay! And of course, how can I forget AMJAD for whipping up wicked Americanos...
Read moreI booked Planet Hollywood for my recent holiday with my family..I booked for 3 Nights after getting good review from my friend..But Man it's completely Opposite from what I thought..This is not a 5 Star Property for me as I stayed many 5 Star Property before like Leela , Hyatt etc even in Goa..They charged 12k for each Day and Frankly I feel it's not worth the Money.
Good things Rooms are Big and Clean Pool is big plus for this property
Bad If there is a option for negative rating for Service, i will give -5 for it...A Long list so if you planning to visit , you should read it ( We upgraded to Pool view from Garden view by them,it's great thing but that's it )
1 - Our Biggest Disappointment at end day on our check-out .. Thier checkout time is 12pm, So I Called reception on 11Am to send someone to my room and pick the luggage.. Even After waiting 20min no one came.. After When I go to reception and told them to send someone pls as my Flight time was 2pm and I m getting late for that..even my wife called them 2-3 timesas she and kids were in the room, i told them 4-5 times at reception but till 12.10pm my luggage didn't come to Welcome area where our cab driver waiting for more than 30min..They took more than 1 hour for just to shift the luggage fromour room to welcome area..And that too my payment was done in advance ( complete payment was done before reaching to the property )..we almost reached airport by 1pm and we have luggage and 2 small kids so it's very tough to handle all things at airport when you reach late..Highly Highly disappointed
2 - Our room Balcony have broken bed , after complaints 3 times there was no action, so we leave it as it is..
3 -thier pantry section in our room we welcomed by Ants, after we called they changed it but as soon as it changed Ants came back so unfortunately we had to shift that pantry box to end of our room.and even complaining for this , there was no necessary action taken...They leave it as it is..
4 - They had home Theatre system in room but there was no remote to control it..We remind them 3 times for it even at one night when my kid wants to watch movie but there was no sound, we called again for that..One person came and check and go ( even after no Remote was given or he or no one didn't came again for this issue..We ignore and leave this thing as well..
5 - We have asked them also for Basic refill like conditioner or toiletries ( Even 3 star hotel won't do it like this )
6 - No Kids Room, they have a common play area where they put a Pool Table , carrom and Table Tenis plus a not maintained garden where some non maintained rides are there...From a 5 Star resort atleast i expect a Kids play room where kids can play..Even Many 4 Star Hotels has proper kids play room.
We Ignored many things and adjust it what we got..But that's not what we paid 12k for each day for SO CALLED 5 STAR RESORT SERVICE.
So for me i will never going to recommend this resort to any of my relatives or friends and not going to even think to visit them again.. In half of this price we got deal Hyatt hotel Goa ( North goa ) and they gave true 5 Star service..Some of our good memories from there..Even 5yr back Leela Goa was outstanding as compared to this newly Resort..
And
Thank you Planet Hollywood to give us these memories from our...
Read moreI had a wonderful time in Goa, all thanks to planet Hollywood Beach resort, in Utorda, South Goa. The hotel has literally everything you'd expect from a 5 star and more. Our stay in a suite room was made seamless by Mr. Saddam and Mr Vishwanath. The property itself is amazing, the suite room came with two LED tvs, two garden facing balconies with seating, a bathroom with a dressing room and wardrobe area and a fully functioning private Jacuzzi, which was my favourite. The best part however is the full body massage chair in the living room, which is the best way to relax after a long day of travelling. They also have a smaller foot massager in the bedroom. The hotel offers a lot of other services like a spa open until 7 pm which offers blissful treatments to help you relax and unwind. They have a massive swimming pool with activities like zorbing. They have paintball too, just a few steps away from the pool. They have a pool side bar and pure vegetarian restaurant known as "Fame." The main restaurant however is Planet Dailies which is connected to the reception. The restaurant itself is very well designed and we were served with utmost diligence by Mr. Stanley and Mr. Joelin. The hotel lobby itself is also very well designed, with a banquet, a carrom room, an ATM, Table Tennis and billiard table, a convention centre and a bar. An interesting thing to note is that; true to its name, the hotel has a lot of Hollywood Easter eggs and references to famous actors and iconic characters, such as Kung-fu Panda in our suite room. One of the best things about the hotel is that even bad weather or rains cannot stop you from having fun as the hotel itself has pool activities and even a gaming lounge on the first floor WITH a PS4 console on demand, for the gamers. The hotel also helps in arranging Yacht tours in North Goa, near Panjim, which was made smoother by Mr Saddam's efforts. The hotel also has an in house shop as well as a Gym. Another highlight is the Utorda beach, which the hotel has exclusive and direct access to along with a seafood restaurant called 'Poseidon's cove.' Lastly the hotel provides pick up and drop services from the Airport or Railway station with a fixed fare, and they also provide sightseeing tours for a reasonable fare of 4000 rupees for 8 hours or 100 km. Would definitely recommend staying at Planet Hollywood if you're...
