Read moreThere are 2 five star hotels that can be considered in Rajkot- the Imperial and Fortune. The Imperial Palace lags in every aspect when compared with Fortune JPS. I do not recommend staying at the Imperial. Here’s why: We drove up to the hotel. No one helped us with our luggage or to valet park the car. There were close to 10 valets hanging around the area, no one came forward. After my husband asked around, one valet came forward and took the car keys to park. We carried our bags up the stairs to checkin. While holding suitcases and a kid, I held the door open for the hotel staff so I wasn’t hurt. They pushed past me. There was no cause for hurry. They were all hanging out in the drive way. Checkin was respectable but the person didn’t say a word beyond asking for our IDs. We didn’t know when breakfast would start or where the elevators were. One person finally helped us with our luggage to the elevator and was wonderful throughout. I believe his name was Topeshchand. He was the only positive part of the hotel’s customer service. We were told we were in the “new wing” The room was dated. The mattress was very uncomfortable. We could literally feel every spring. In the bathroom, the bidet was leaking. There was water on the floor. the anti-slip mat in the shower area was filthy with stuff under it. The glasses in the bathroom were stained. The toilet seat had remnants of stains.
Breakfast was by far the worst experience. No one asked for my room number when I entered the breakfast area There was way too much staff around the buffet. I had to squeeze my way to it. I switched 4 bowls before I could get a clean one for breakfast The tea/coffee cups had hair in them. When I asked the Manager who was standing by the cups doing nothing, if these were the only ones available, he gave me a hair filled cup and started pouring tea in it. I told him it was dirty and asked what he was pouring in it. He yelled saying- he was serving tea. I said I want coffee. He pointed to a hot water pot and told me that was coffee. I told him it’s hot water. He pointed to sachets of instant coffee and yelled to make it myself. I gave up, took a fresh cup and poured myself some tea from a heavy and outdated flask. Surrounded by rude staff over crowding around the limited buffet, I picked 2 things that I was closest to and found an empty table. As I had my breakfast, one junior manager sauntered by and rudely asked for my room number. I asked one of the servers if they could pack a breakfast tray for my husband because we were in a hurry. He told us to eat what we can and that they can’t pack meals. I would have considered a paid, packed breakfast but I didn’t want to deal with any more cringe worthy behaviour and so I left.
We were relieved to check out. Topeshchand helped with the luggage. The valet got our car 15 minutes after we exited the hotel.
All in all, this isn’t a hotel worthy of its name or...
Read moreFirst room we were given was unclean and when I opened the fridge there was a MOULDY OPENED sandwich left there! We requested for another room, went to see it, and it was also dirty, DUST everywhere and very stuffy. The housekeeping manager saw us and did a U-turn down the corridor to avoid talking to us! Third room had a dirty carpet so they assured us they would clean it and call us back to check. When we went back the carpet still had clothes threads and other fluff which clearly hadn’t been vacuumed properly! All of this took ONE HOUR to resolve! When speaking with the operations manager - Rahul Rao - and explaining that this shouldn’t have been the case and we would like some compensation for the inconvenience he assured us that he would speak with management and call us back, so he asked for a mobile number which we gave and then told us he would call us back in 30 mins with an update. 30 mins later and no update, we went to his office where he was with another guest so we told him to call us ASAP. He told us he would call us in 5-10 mins. Which again he DID NOT. Another hour later when going to his office to check for an update and query WHY we hadn’t heard anything, he started raising his voice and shouting at me and us!! Absolutely SHOCKING behaviour and attitude towards customers. Clearly he could not take that he had been caught out and not delivered as per his FALSE promises. His mannerisms were disgusting and incredibly rude, definitely not trained to communicate or deal with HOSPITALITY incidents or situations. |After going back to the room we noticed that the bedding had stains and dirty marks, so requested for a clean duvet cover. The boy who came to make the bed didn’t know how to, and whilst laughing was desperately calling someone else for help. When that person came to assist they were still unable to change the duvet cover - this in total took 20 mins, by which time I asked them to leave, and my husband and I made the bed ourselves- only to realise that the new duvet cover itself ALSO had stains and hairs! We asked for another double duvet cover, and received a flat bed sheet, after explaining that we need a double duvet cover again, we then received a single duvet with NO cover. |An extremely exhausting and frustrating experience, especially as we have stayed there many years ago when it was great! All in all this hotel is an absolute joke, not hygienic, housekeeping staff have no standards, and the management are incredibly incompetent and rude! I would NOT recommend booking or wasting your time and energy at Imperial Palace - you definitely won’t get royal treatment!!! This is more like a one star hotel, we would have been better off in a...
