This was another great experience of ours at an MPT run hotel. I have always said that if you are touring MP, you must stay at MPT.
However, for the Tansen Residency I have some feedback which I hope is implemented in good spirit:
Rooms:
The booking experience online is excellent. Please keep it up. I especially love the availability calendar which makes it super easy to book.
We were allotted Room 207. Mind you, there is no lift so you must climb the stairs. It's just one flight of stairs though.
The room was furnished in typical MPT style, very professional and chic, with a hint of traditional Indian style, with intricately designed wooden furniture. All necessary furnishing and necessities are present.
Noise insulation is also great. There was a party happening downstairs and despite our room being right in front of the corridor, we couldn't hear a thing.
The biggest problem was the bathroom:
There is absolutely zero water pressure. The overhead shower (there is no rain shower, the hand shower is also to be used as an overhead shower) is practically useless because the water simply pours down in a straight trajectory so the only way to get wet under the shower is to become a miniature of yourself and stand on the soap stand.
To add, there is no tilt feature in the stand which could still give an angle to the water throw.
Therefore, one is forced to use the bucket to bathe. That too, by waiting for 5-6 minutes for the bucket to fill up until it is ready to go.
There is no finishing to the false ceiling over the shower area, a surprising departure from most MPT hotels where finishing is one of the paramount features.
The bathroom also seemed to have a drainage issue because despite cleaning up after us, we still could smell some stink which is often found when there is residue urine gathered in corners.
Service:
Warm and impeccable.
Food:
Excellent and sumptuous breakfast served.
Location:
Two minutes from the railway station and right across a very happening street in Gwalior where one can find good shopping stores and restaurants.
Swimming Pool:
Needs maintenance but...

Read moreMPT Tansen residency turned out to be a great value for money property for our 3 night stay. Both with positives and negatives, this property is well worth a stay.
The positives : Rooms are decent. Beds/Pillows are comfy. Room amenities are great for this kind of property. Room heater, dental and bathing kits, good amount of bottled drinking water, tea kettle in rooms. Fast and great room service Breakfast is decent Ala carte food is a mixed bag of experience.was not that good the first day but was good the other days. Room service does a great job keeping the rooms neat and clean. Shot out to Dhiraj sharma Madhya Pradesh Tourism marketing and booking handler, made the booking experience a great one, very prompt and provided things without having to remind.
Now for the negatives: Some old staff members like in the restaurant are ill trained to handle customers: being casual, mixing orders, not being congenial etc...they need immediate pull up or they will spoil the good name of the hotel and bring down the good efforts of other staff members.
Rooms are a bit smelly..needs attention
Some room amenities are broken and need attention and fixing. Like our kettle was broken it could have been fixed before we pointed it out.
Other than the above things that needs fixing...MPT Tansen residency is a good value hotel that is very near to sight seeing places, markets, restaurants. Great location, decent food, good room amenities make this...
