Dear IKEA,
This resumes my day at ikea 6 years after launch…
I just can’t believe how rude the staff is. The Markethall door was completely locked for no reason, that meant you needed to drag your behind up the escalator, to the left where the cafeteria is located and back down the stairs. Making a stupid unnecessary buckle for no reason what so ever.
The first time I managed to pass the door as they were pushing carts out that very door, 2 ladies come to me rudely calling me “mam” telling me I can’t go through that door. I tell them it’s sir, without a response she proceeds to laugh at her colleagues without an apology or an answer. I make my way through whether or not she liked it.
Arriving at the kitchen and cooking aisle, I was searching for the KLOCKREN (an anti oil splash mesh). On the website it states there are 12 pieces available, but when I ask to a employee to guide me towards the stock they inform me there isn’t any, I proceed to ask why if it states there is stock.. he goes about telling me I should order it online considering I’m in the store I won’t go about ordering something that’s in stock.. he talks me he can’t do much… he proceeds to giving me excuses like oh someone this morning checked and couldn’t find or the pieces are in the As-Is section.. (for context any stock marked online doesn’t include display pieces or refunded discounted pieces… but only fresh pieces). In conclusion he came to no help and just didn’t seemed to care and left.
He really asked me to order a piece online which would get picked from the store in which I’m standing at that very moment.
I told him if you can’t find the piece, but the delivery pickup team can than why don’t you ask them to get me a piece, I don’t understand its sounds logical.. but he proceeded to guiding me into ordering online. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in 2025 so far.
After finish the circuit and stoping at the As-Is, paying and went to the car to load my shopping, I bought glasses that were sold individually which didn’t have packaging, so I decided to go back in the store once more to get the glass cardboard holders they sell to properly pack them to avoid breakage. Upon getting myself to the market Hal door once more in speed, I straightly crash and stop in the spot as the door was locked (probably earlier).
After the few incidents before I he’d to the reception by the escalators to ask why the door is closed, but sadly the lady didn’t speak a word of English… that was promising!! So once more I go through the stupid cycle of up the escalator, around the cafeteria and down the stairs I reach. I ask the other ikea employee; who’s always there with his man-bun..
“why the heck is this door locked I crashed into the door as no notice was put saying it was locked.. and why do u have to push myself up and down to reach down the stairs???”
He just tells me with little care, “yeah you need to go around”… I tell him “no no no you didn’t listen to what I said… due to the damn door beingocked closed I ran face foward through it!”…. He replies ok so actually the was a technical issue with the door we can’t let people through.
What an idiot that guy is, do they not carburate on coffee once in a while???
Overall after all this, the issue seems to be the stores management, the lack of education and respect store employees at IKEA, and there condescending attitude from them… the ladies that filled at my face by misinterpreting my title.. to the lack of common logic from the kitchen aisle employed… and finally the stupid door that was shut for no good reason apart to push peoples limits.
And I’m not making more of the store leaking water all across with buckets collecting water… and the P1 parking pipes dripping sewage water on my head.
Aurelie was a good store manager back then.. so was Christophe… but the new manager Vidya is not a champ for sure. The store is falling into a state of disparity and lack of commerce mindset.
I may not push myself back through those doors after today.
Hope to hear from...
Read moreIKEA Hyderabad offers a unique shopping experience for home furnishing enthusiasts in the city. As the first IKEA store in India, it has become a landmark, attracting a large number of visitors. Spread across a sprawling area, the store showcases a vast range of ready-to-assemble furniture, home accessories, textiles, lighting, and kitchenware, catering to diverse needs and tastes. One of the highlights of IKEA Hyderabad is its well-organized layout, featuring inspiring room settings that allow customers to visualize how the furniture and decor would look in their own homes. The store's design encourages exploration, guiding visitors through different sections dedicated to living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and more. While this layout can be inspiring, some customers find it challenging to navigate quickly if they only need a specific item, as it often requires walking through multiple sections. The product quality at IKEA is generally considered impressive for the price range, offering a blend of functionality and Scandinavian design. Many customers appreciate the affordability of a significant portion of their products, with a notable number of items priced under ₹200. This makes IKEA accessible to a wide range of budgets. However, some reviews mention concerns about the longevity of the composite wood furniture, particularly if disassembled and reassembled. Beyond furniture, the IKEA Hyderabad experience includes a massive 1,000-seater restaurant serving a mix of Swedish and Indian dishes at reasonable prices. The food court is a popular spot for shoppers to take a break, offering everything from the famous Swedish meatballs to local favorites like biryani. Customer service reviews are mixed. While some customers praise the helpfulness of the staff and the overall shopping experience, others have reported issues with delivery, assembly, and after-sales service, including difficulties in contacting customer support and resolving issues with orders. In conclusion, IKEA Hyderabad offers a wide selection of affordable and well-designed home furnishings and a unique in-store experience with its restaurant and inspirational displays. It’s a place where you can easily spend hours exploring and finding ideas for your home. However, potential customers should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding customer service and consider their specific needs regarding product assembly...
Read moreIKEA is a landmark in the city of Hyderabad. Being the first store of this European furniture chain opened in india, the campus is sprawling as f! Be prepared to walk for at least 2 kilometers or more in order to cover the whole store. One disadvantage of the store is that it is difficult to exit without covering multiple sections if you wish to visit just a single section.
The sections are laid out in order with most thematic sections going well back to back. Kitchen and related stuff are laid out back to back, living room furniture back to back, bedroom furniture and furnishings back to back, kids rooms, bathrooms, garden area etc are all laid out one after another.
It is mostly a budget furniture shopping centre, so anyone looking for premium or luxury furniture or furnishings or fixtures, this is not the place. The designs within the economy segment however range from basic to plush designs, though the assembly format of the furniture has raised a few eyebrows about the life of the furniture it self.
Heavier items can be ordered online or gotten home delivered, else the smaller items need to be picked up from the storage warehouse at the end of the mall after noting down the item number codes which are tagged on the items on display itself.
They also have a food court on the first floor serving some basic fare to keep you going whilst you are hunting for the best fits.
The descriptions of the items are quite spot on on the item tags however and in fact make for a fairly informed decision making shopping process unlike most other furniture stores in the city.
In the photos that will be uploaded soon, I have tried to provide a broad range of almost all the sections to give a fair idea of the design selections and variety on offer. Do feel free to zoom in to the pictures in order to get a better idea.
They have also started a small range of gifting cookies and dry fruit boxes surprisingly the last time I visited which I found quite surprising and out of theme. Decided to give it a try nonetheless and they were quite decent however.
They also have a small chai samosa set off after the billing section for you to pick up something for the road or get some tummy support before you head off.
Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here if u are looking to set up any section in the house or even shop for a basic item or two.
Happy...
