We stayed here in a private room. The so called "Penthouse."
Not sure how we ended up here but we did. My partner read on a travel blog that this was recommended to stay in one of their private rooms. Bad idea.
Now, to be fair, I understand that this is a hostel. I have stayed in many and have stayed in many private rooms at such places and frankly have been rarely so dissapointed in value.
As soon as we opened the front door (which does not close properly) we should have done a 180. However it was getting on in the day and we were here and wanted to get on with it.
The hallways were dingy leading in.
It is all stairs but that is fine.
The reception was great. Very kind and helpful. Truly. No complaints there. Pay up front.
Our room on the top floor did have a city view, no doubt. It is the back side of an apartment building, an alley and a road. The swing on the large patio is actually really enjoyable.
The room lacked any type of quality for the price. It was sorta clean in the sense that the bedding wash clean, floor swept, the toilet was clean and the floor was mopped.
It was dirty in that the walls look like they have not been washed in a long time.
The bed was uncomfortable.
The finishes in the room were poor. As an example, the screws on the door plate were very loose and a random electrical cord was hanging out of the wall in the bathroom.
Hot water did not quite make it through our first shower.
The room needed airing out.
Considering the proximity to the road and one window that is permanently open, the street noise was not so bad.
In short, for the amount paid, there is absolutely no value here at all.
I am embarrassed we stayed here and did not leave to find other lodging. Time was...
Read moreFantastic hostel, ideally located in C scheme, right above Nibs Cafe and close to MGF mall so you have everything within a short walkable distance. This is boutique hostel accommodation but at value prices and far better than many other hostels i have stayed in. Gone is the stale smell of 'who knows what' and grubby, dog eaten bedding! Instead Blue Beds provides luxury where it is greatly received! The place is fresh and modern. Minimally decorated so you feel able to relax, chill out and unwind after the sensory overload of the old city. With a huge TV in the common room, you can still catch the latest football match or favourite programmes you may just be missing.
Dorm rooms are light and welcoming. The beds are super comfy and I love the fact that you get your own reading lamp and someone thought to put in plenty of plug sockets including one for each bed so you don't have to go hunting for them or wait ages for someone else to finish charging their phone! It just feels like someone has thought to offer quality and think of their guests rather than turning any old building into a hostel with basic means. Clearly I've travelled too much or stayed in too many hostels!
I also love the fact that there are plenty of food options available as sometimes when you have been out all day and particularly when travelling solo, you don't want to have to go out again and you just want to unwind so the fact that they can order food in or prepare food is ideal.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future and will recommend it to others I know wanting fantastic quality where the owners think of the guests and try and provide for them...
Read moreGreat hostel in a housing colony, close to everything but a bit quieter area. It is near some great places to eat, and in fact right downstairs is this cafe and bakery called NIBS, which will definitely get you in trouble if you are a foodie.
The rooms and hostel spaces are a bit bare of decoration, but are wonderfully clean and open. The common areas are great to socialize or to chill out, and the breakfast (which you can purchase as an add-on) was very filling and good. It includes the usual hostel breakfast fare of eggs, corn flakes, bananas, toast, etc... but than each day comes with a varying main dish. Some days its pancakes, some days a new and wonderful Indian breakfast dish.
The main heart of this hostel, however, is the staff. Everyone who works here is nice, helpful, and works to create a social, relaxed, happy environment. One of the managers Shristi, was especially memorable, as she contacts guests pre-trip to prepare them for their arrival and stay in Jaipur. Then when the guests arrive, she organizes tours and events to suit the guest's needs and wants. There was not a single part of my stay at Blue Beds that was not enhanced due to Shristi's hard work and thoughtfulness.
So in summary: try Blue Beds in Jaipur. You...
