Chao is a relatively small Chinese Bistro at the entrance of the hotel lobby, I was actually surprised by its size as I expected it to be a bit bigger especially because it is in a 4-star hotel. We did reservation to hold us a table for two but unfortunately, they don't have the holding concept so they either give you a table if it's available or ask you to wait (we waited for 10 minutes) even if you did the reservation, which kind of defeats the purpose. The service was too slow and there were only 2-3 servers managing all the guests. One thing I didn't like is they won't visit your table until you wave or ask for them. Food: we ordered a soup and a couple of entrees. Tom Yum vegetarian soup was alright but too sour in my opinion. It even has some hard non-chewable components that were mixed with the rest of the veggies so I had hard time consuming it as in every fill, I will get some of those pieces and I would have to spit it out as you can't chew them. Red curry with tofu: it was made too creamy and tasted bitter. I have never had such Thai red curry. I think I was expecting too much when I ordered a Thai dish in a Chinese restaurant. The server was nice to replace it with a regular vegetable curry which was better. As it was too late, we decided to take our entrees as takeaway and eat at home. Chilli garlic noodles: they were alright. Overall, their service is too slow, it's nice but slow or they don't care for smaller tables. You have to call the server each time you need something: like change the plate, or ask for hot sauce or issues with the dish etc. You feel embarrassed and I think the management should take care of it.

You enter a 5 Star venue at a cuisine restaurant hoping they know what they are doing and are good at it. But then again, you come back being disappointed, as always. Our Order: 1. Bud Beer: Awesome. Best part of the day. 2. Chicken Thukpa: The quantity was very low. Just a small bowl. The combination of soup, noodles and chicken was accurate but somehow it lacked the kick in taste. We added the condiments, but it was unable to complete the dish. 3. Shrimp Momos: Great coating. But the filling was too mushy. I am a fan of absolutely thin skin and they totally nailed it. Although, the shrimp filling just wasn't delicious enough. It lacked the umpfff factor. Also, we did expect atleast 8 pieces, 6 was just too low. 4. Complimentary Khinchi: It used to be my favourite snack. How can someone ruin that too? It had a weird smell to it. We really wanted to try their dessert, but frankly, we didn't want to risk it. Service: Alright. Nothing special. But then you don't see them being on their toes either like a stand alone restaurant where a manager is on attention mode. Everything was chill. Ambiance: A bit too much? Frankly, the extra dimmness made it look shady and flaky instead of giving it a Chinese vibe.

We came here because of the high rating on Zomato but as tourists from Singapore, we did not enjoy the Chinese food here very much, perhaps because it's more catered to the local palette. The fried rice was way too dry and bland for our liking, and the fish was overcooked. The Manchow soup was the only dish we truly enjoyed. It was also unpleasant to be put on the spot and pressured by the waitstaff to write a positive review on TripAdvisor, which was quite a tedious process since we did not have an account. Considering the steep 'fine-dining' price point of this restaurant, food was really underwhelming and there could have been more tact in letting guests enjoy their alone time rather than being pushy with reviews after their meal. If I enjoy my experience at a restaurant, I’ll be sure to write positive review on my accord. Unfortunately this one does not make the cut. It’s ‘clean-tasting’ at best - if I had to put a positive spin on bland… We experienced better at other restaurants in Jaipur at way lower prices.

We were staying at Holiday Inn this time located in the city centre of Jaipur. One of its restaurants is Chao which serves Chinese and other Asian food like Thai, Burmese etc.

Heard good about this place so thought of having our dinner here. For the start we ordered Pork dimsums which were not at all well made. It felt like we were biting into something hard and crusty. Chef agreed to the fact and served us the Chicken dimsums which were nice and juicy. The Chilly fish was also Flavorful and nicely done.

They serve 3 types of dips and 2 salads comprising of Kimchi and Lotus stem in sweet chilly. This was nice and fresh. I was surprised to find out that they didn't have so many items available which were on their menu like the Lamb shanks, Pork Ribs and Lamb Chops.

For the sake of it we had to order the Cantonese Lamb and Cantonese Stir fired veggies and the Chef also served us a bit of Mapu Tofu which was nice. Even the Lamb was Flavorful and well made and tasted well with the steamed rice.

The saviour were the desserts for us and yes it was a highlight of our meal. The Chef served us with a dessert platter consisting of a Mango Pudding , Chocolate cigar and a Fried ice cream ball. Each and every element on this platter was amazing.

The place is small but has great ambience with an open kitchen which ha sa steamer in it that looks great and gives out great vibes when steam is flowing freely from it.

Looking forward to try this place again soon but expecting to have everything available...
