Hotel Alpine Ridge — Hotel in Jammu and Kashmir

Alpine Ridge Hotel Gulmarg looks fantastic from the road. But as I entered the hotel, it looks run-down and in need of serious repair work. The floors were creaking and not stable as I stepped on it. I did not take the pictures in the room as I was totally disappointed at the way it looks. There is a mini heater on the floor to heat up the whole room. The bed was not very comfortable and the toilet is really basic. It was really cold when we got there and it was really uncomfortable as the room was cold and the water in the toilet, were just as cold, too. We had a hard time adjusting to wash ourselves with the cold water. And worse to come. As night sets in and we were in bed, the electricity suddenly was out. The room gets even colder and it was pitch black. I fail to understand the logic of reducing the electricity when guests are in the hotel. Extremely bad experience, we had gone in expecting an old property. But what we experienced is worse. The front entrance wasn’t cleared of the ice and snow (21st March), people kept tumbling as they came in and out of the hotel. The front desk is extremely unperturbed with anything you request. Room service guys were one level higher, we were 9 people in the party and they took tips from 2 people and on approaching 3rd person when I challenged that I paid them had the gumption to say ‘paying 500 is not enough’.

We are extremely sceptical about the water shared in the hotel as all of us got food poisoning. Could have been dinner also , since we all started falling sick from midnight onwards after having their dinner buffet. At that point we have been enjoying Kashmiri cuisine for 1 week and this is the only place we have had tummy issues.

In all not a good experience and I won’t be recommending this hotel to any one. Location wise I would rather stay at grand Mumtaz...

The hotel is beautiful from outside with mesmerize snow around it ...but as soon as u check in d reality hits you...heaters don't work properly ...rude egoistic staff ....broken bathrooms windows ....d floor at d entrance is slippers if u r not carefull u can slip nd fall.... if u r going out of the hotel they ask u to deposit the keys n remove ur luggage nd keep it outside in your absence......u don't even get a chance to check if u have left anything behind ....worst experience in this hotel..v came from gondola ride and saw all are luggage was kept out ...dint even get a chance to change the wet clothes....they help u get yr bags during check in buh check out u have to manage taking ur luggage from d hotel door to the car in that slippery snow....this hotel was booked...
