The Meadows Gulmarg — Hotel in Jammu and Kashmir

We reached the hotel in the afternoon. First thing that we noticed was that the approach road is narrow and muddy. There are many steep steps to the main door. This can be challenging for unfit or old people. The rooms are small. The toilet in one room wasn't cleaned. In general, the rooms were unclean. Linen and blanket was little dirty. Bedside table was dirty. Floor was a little dirty. WiFi connectivity was flaky. Couple of times the staff did not answer my calls and there was no one at the front desk. Overall, I was unhappy with the hotel till evening.

Then I met the hotel manager Mr Barkat Ali. He apologized for the poor service and started to resolve my issues. The cook Mr Imtiaz was hospitalized and they had to be in the hospital. Mr Barkat Ali is a very warm and friendly person and I saw that he was genuinely trying to make my family comfortable in the hotel. The cook recovered and made a good dinner. Next morning breakfast was excellent and the service was also good. The interiors of the hotel are good and the rooms stay warm. Heater is not needed atleast in summer.

I am glad I met good people like Mr Barkat Ali who bring a personal touch to customer service. I hope the hotel management improves the room infrastructure and ensures adequate staff is available to serve...

First of all we were fooled by our travel operator that it is a premium property. He charged us for a 4 star stay and provided us this hotel which is no more than 1 star. It is also worth mentioning this that most travel operators in kashmir are scam masters and they can overcharge you like hell especially if you book at short notice.||||2. The rooms are too congested, not even enough for two people. Bathrooms are stinky and unclean, the linens were not properly washed and were having stains. Even the blanket was appearing very dusty and untidy.||||3. The food was not upto the mark and they were serving dinner buffet only till 9 PM whereas the general practice is to serve till 10.30 PM. This caused us unnecessay hussle as we were tired after the Gandola ride and wanted to rest for some time before the dinner but we couldn't as we were afraid of missing the dinner.||||4.
