Gulmarg Ski — Attraction in Jammu and Kashmir

First Skiing Holiday, WORLD BEST Ski Company, BRILLIANT Instructors!!! This was my first skiing holiday and booked for 4 days of ski school with Nayeem who owns The Gulmarg Ski. They arranged for  pickup and drop from the Srinagar airport, and also helped us in getting reasonable room rates (the rates were much higher online) with Grand Mumtaz. From when we first went into the shop, we found Nayeem to be helpful in choosing boots, skis and other equipment. Nayeem also arranged for a space in the shop for us to keep our equipments post ski (which was not the case with other ski enthusiasts in Gulmarg), this was a big relief as you do not have to commute back and forth to your hotel with the equipments. I found Nayeem and his team to be excellent. They were patient, and explained where we were going and what we would be doing and catered for all of us whom were at different levels. He really made a huge difference to our experience of ski school and we learnt so much. I ended up extending my trip. From Day 1, not being able to link turn my way down a baby training slope, to Day 4 where I was boarding down plase 1 multiple times. From spending most of Day 1 and 2 on my bum, frustratingly, by Day 4 I was able to board properly, on piste, off piste and even do basic freestyle moves. All of this was thanks to one great instructor, Nayeem Khan. Not only was he very talented, but he was patient, enthusiastic and a top guy!! I can't thank him enough and I would recommend him to everyone, whatever your ability, as he will make you improve and you will have a laugh for sure! It's thanks to Nayeem and The Gulmarg Ski that I am now addicted and can't wait to do...

Excellent 2.5-day trip organized by Gulmarg Ski for my wife and I in December (after first snow). We had a pickup from Srinagar airport by the team (Nayeem and Nadeem), then went to Stream restaurant for local Kashmiri lunch before a sikara ride on Lake Dal. We then headed to Gulmarg where, on the way, we had some time to do shopping for some Kashmiri shawls. We checked-in to Kalahoi hotel and everything was perfect with good heating, clean rooms, included dinner& breakfast, wifi.

1st day we did the 2 phases of Gondola which was booked with the help of Nayeem in advance as it fills up fast. Phase 1 area we did snow mobile and had some quick local snacks, each time Nayeem was there to ensure we got the right deals. 2nd day, we went for a half-day ski lessons complete with gear, transport and instructor (none other than the best Nayeem of course), followed by lunch at a nice local restaurant. All in all excellent trip, and I highly recommend foreign visitors to book with Gulmarg Ski. Gulmarg is beautiful, snowy mountains, rolling hills, incredible atmosphere. We hoped we had more time to explore the other beautiful places in Kashmir. Perhaps the next time!

Actually, we were a little nervous before arriving as we heard there would be issues of scams, inability to book rides and tickets using international cards, unable to use international sim cards, language issues... Thankfully we had Nayeem & team's help at GulmargSki and they made us feel right at home doubling as the local guide at every step, making sure we go to the right places/people and ensuring we feel comfortable at all times. Just concluded an excellent week long visit to Gulmarg. The skiing and various adventure activities organised for our group by Naeem were fantastic. Nayeem is hands on and wants you to have a great time, and experience the best of what Gulmarg has to offer. He was very accessible and accommodating of all our requirements. From setting us up with the ski equipment, and experiences and safe drivers who were capable of handling the snow and icy conditions on the streets of Gulmarg. The primary objective of our trip was skiing and getting most of whome were first time skiers. Nayeem ensures we had a great time skiing by providing us with experienced trainers to give one on one ski lessons to each person in our group. By the end of 4 days each of us were confident and comfortable to on skis, and were able to learn the basics. The ATV excursion organised for us was fantastic as well. A great experience where we were taken through a remote and untouched part of Gulmarg. Absolutely stunning and highly recommended. The trip up to phase 1 in the gondola and snowmobiling around phase one and back down, was a special experience as well. Nayeem was the highlight of the trip with great suggestions for activities and excursions, keeping in mind the age and preferences of our group.
