I stayed three nights in this property. We were three adults in one room.
The room size was adequate and beautiful. It had its own balcony with a coffee table and two chairs.
The ambiance was very peaceful and tranquil despite being located bang right in the center of the city and on the main road.
The location is perfect because it's just 1km from the railway station you easily get autos right outside the hotel. Many local sightseeing spots are situated close by.
This is a heritage property. I was overall satisfied with the upkeep and maintenance but the bathroom needs more attention; specifically the flush in the WC. Floor mats weren't placed neither on the entrance to the bathroom nor the place where we step out of the bath tub. This could be very dangerous.
The bedding is quite soft. While this wasn't a problem for me, people with back pain might find it very uncomfortable. But on the plus side, the bed linen was very clean.
The TV is placed right across the beds so it's very comfortable for watching our favourite shows. My parents primarily wanted to watch Tamil channels and English news. We had access to all of the desired channels.
The AC in the room worked perfectly but the weather was not too hot so we just used the fan which by itself kept the room pretty cool.
There was also mosquito repellent in the room which we appreciated a lot.
There's a swimming pool and a 24 hours gym.
Our bookings included breakfast buffet. So we had them thrice. This was just okay with very little change in the menu. And when it comes to their choice of Indian sweet in the spread, if they serve rava upma then it would be nice if they don't serve rava kesari. Too much rava in the same spread.
But the restaurant staff were very polite and readily available to cater to our needs. The plates and all cutleries were very clean.
We also had À la carte dinner twice in the tiger trail restaurant in their outdoor seating area. The entire place was light with candles and lanterns. The tables were placed at a decent distance among them. The menu has enough variety that you don't get bored eating in the same place on two consecutive nights.
We loved the whole dining experience. My mother and I had our birthdays on those two nights and it simply made our day.
Coming to sightseeing, I strongly suggest that you make your bookings directly through a local agency and not through this hotel. I enquired about a day trip to Somnathpur and Talakkadu temples. They spoke to a driver and quoted INR 4800. I then booked directly with spn travel agency. In addition to the temples, they took us to two waterfalls and the amount was INR 2800.
Finally, I want to share my billing experience. I booked the room via MakeMyTrip. So, I paid INR 1075 while booking itself. However, in the final bill this wasn't taken into consideration and had I not thoroughly gone over the bill before I paid, I would have paid that 1075 again. Although they immediately rectified this mistake and produced another bill, this kind of negligence is simply unacceptable. So if you are staying in this property please go over the bill very very...
Read moreVisited this great hotel and the Tiger Trail restaurant, a second time in a row on successive trips to Mysore, Karnataka state, India. I had their lunch buffet once again with my family and it was really great! They really have an extensive spread which would cater to all kinds of patrons, whether they be vegetarians or non-vegetararians.' It's a bit pricey, but does have great quality!
The moment you step inside the historic property, you get to sense an old nostalgia of Mysuru, the charm, the appeal, the beauty of the traditional and the modern traits well presented. There is kind of an old swinging chair in the left hand corner, once you enter inside Metropole from the parking. This is almost opposite to the small reception which they have and is visible before you further walk and dwelve into the restaurant. You would also notice some nice cane furniture on your way.
I definitely noticed the warmth and hospitality by which we were received and attended to while we dined in and made us feel very welcomed. The lunch buffet had some sumptuous dishes and it was yummy! There were multiple people who attended our table which even included the Hotel Manager who came and personally checked on us. The restaurant has some old chandeliers', besides some paintings and quite comfortable seating. Service was very prompt and naans and hot kulchas were served at our table separate. You could also order your chaat, if you cared for a bit spice as a starter. It would also be delivered to your table, if you preferred to do so or you can just get out of the restaurant area and get it yourselves. It was really good and was served by a lady hostess.
The lunch buffet spread was quite varied and distinct, starting with the soups, the entrees being curd rice, chicken biriyani, noodles, fried rice, tandoori chicken, mutton curry, white rice, an okra dish, if I am not mistaken and just to name a few of their diverse items. Apart from this, you have the usual fruits and deserts, one of them quite unique, a cheesecake one inside a small shot glass or at least it resembled. You should definitely try this item.
During the time we spent at the restaurant, the host was very nice, understanding and helpful to offer and serve the individual buffet items at the respective tables, especially to anybody who had some difficulties walking or in case, if they were a bit older guests. It was a great experience and very thoughtful on his part, which is very rare these days! Thank you very much for doing the same.
I would really like to try their outside dinner service with all the pretty vegetation, the lights and get a taste of the night view and the sky adorned with the gorgeous stars. Metropole is a great place to visit while in Mysore and would simply mesmerize you! Royal Orchid also has a property at the popular Brindavan...
Read moreThis hotel offers a truly unique experience, transporting you to a bygone era with its traditional royal ambiance. The spacious rooms are well-appointed, featuring generous amenities and efficient air conditioning. Our room included a large, private verandah surrounded by lush greenery, offering a peaceful and relaxing retreat.||One of the highlights of our mornings was listening to a live saxophonist performing Indian classical music in the courtyard during breakfast—an elegant touch that perfectly matched the serene setting. However, this experience was somewhat diminished by the indoor buffet area playing Western classical music, which clashed with the live performance outside. A more cohesive musical atmosphere would enhance the overall ambiance.||The food was excellent, with a wide variety of both Indian and international dishes to suit every palate. The service was attentive, with waitstaff regularly checking on guests to ensure a pleasant dining experience.||We appreciated being provided with information about tourist attractions in Mysuru. However, we were disappointed to learn that no transport arrangements were available. For guests traveling thousands of miles from abroad, this lack of logistical support is a significant gap—especially when the same tourist information is easily accessible online via platforms like TripAdvisor or Google. Offering in-house transport options or partnerships with local guides would greatly enhance the value for international visitors.||Fortunately, our stay took a delightful turn thanks to a serendipitous encounter. On our first day, unsure of what to do, we wandered outside the hotel gates. Despite a language barrier with the security guard, we found an auto-rickshaw stand nearby. There, we met Vasanth Kumar (Phone: +91 97412 19509), who greeted us in fluent English and offered to show us around Mysuru.||Vasanth proved to be a fantastic guide—knowledgeable, reliable, and incredibly hospitable. He shared insider tips on the best times to visit key sites and ensured we had a memorable three-day experience. His fares were reasonable, and he even arranged a comfortable and affordable taxi transfer back to Bangalore Airport, charging us significantly less than what we had paid upon arrival.||In summary, while the hotel delivers beautifully on charm, comfort, and dining, it would benefit from more comprehensive guest support, particularly in arranging transport and local experiences. Thanks to Vasanth Kumar, our visit to Mysuru was...
