It is one of the most famous junction where the most famous Mysore Pak Shop - " Guru Sweet Mart " is also present. This Chikka Gadiyara Center is very near to Mysore Palace, Mysore Main Road also. This place experiences Traffic a bit heavier than many other Areas in Mysuru as the roads are somewhat Smaller than the Main Roads and this junction is very very famous for many Shopping Complexes & vast place for different types of Shopping, Food & other tasks to vibe. Dufferin Clock Tower also known locally as 'Chikka Gadiyara' (meaning Little Clock) in comparison with the Bigger clock or Dodda Gadiyara that is near the Town Hall. It served as a time keeper during the reign of the Wodeyars, when wearing a watch was a luxury. Dufferin Clock Tower is a heritage structure in Mysore. Located at the end of Devaraja Market, close to the KR Circle. This clock tower was commissioned in honor of the then British Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin. He was the first Viceroy of the colonial India to pay a ceremonial and friendly state visit to the invitation of the Maharaja of Mysore Chamaraja Wodeyar X in 1886. (Officially Lord Lytton visited Mysore some 10 years back, but on connection with the famine that plagued south India).

A few years back you would have been forgiven for not noticing this tower because it was dump, street vendors and people had encroached this place and also haphazard parking all over. Thankfully the Heritage Department came forward and got the place vacated and together with the city council restored the lost glory of this beautiful place. It has benches around where you can sit and watch the hustle bustle of our Heritage City.

Open space near the city central market. Stone benches are there around for people to sit. Place was crowded couldn't find any bench to sit. Had to sit down near the chikka gadiyara to relax after roaming around the area. Can't say the place is not maintained as vegetable vendors and other vendors keep using the place hence throwing the garbage here & there even though there is regular cleaning done.
