Stay Experience at Taj I recently stayed at the Taj and had a mixed experience. While the rooms were clean and spacious, my stay was significantly impacted as my room was located next to a busy road. The constant traffic noise and honking throughout the night made it difficult to sleep.
Staff Experience: Unhelpful and Disengaged I was surprised by the rude and indifferent behavior of the staff, which was unlike my previous experiences with Taj. Some specific incidents stood out:
Ashish (West Wing) – Check-Out Experience
I waited at the check-out counter while Ashish chatted with colleagues, completely ignoring me. He did not acknowledge my presence or inform me when he would assist me. When I requested an invoice for my payment, he curtly replied, “No, it will go to the company.” When I explained that I had personally paid and needed it for my expenses, he reluctantly agreed but continued to stall, forcing me to remind him twice before he finally provided it. I also asked about transport to Terminal 2, and he bluntly told me, “No, walk to Terminal 1 and take the shuttle.” However, when I returned with my colleagues, he readily arranged a car for us—proving that he had lied to me earlier.
Food Experience: Major Disappointment The biggest letdown was the food.
Breakfast – Repetitive & Stale
The same menu was repeated every day, leading to the impression that stale food was being recycled.
Lunch & Dinner – Poor Taste & Hygiene Concerns
Since the hotel is located far from the city, our only dining options were at the hotel or Terminal 1 food joints. The food quality was below average, as confirmed by many members of our group. Several colleagues experienced stomach issues after eating at the hotel. Given this, I was grateful to be vegan and to have brought my own food.
Lack of Vegan Options & Staff's Ignorance
As a vegan, I asked the staff about available options, but no one had a clear answer. At one point, they even suggested I eat cheesecake—clearly demonstrating their lack of awareness. After a 10-minute wait, the only option they offered me for lunch was mango mousse.
Poor Service & Lack of Flexibility Incident at the Dosa Counter
I asked the chef if I could get podi dosa instead of plain dosa. Even though podi was visibly available, he refused, saying my pre-set menu only included plain dosa. I accepted and walked away. However, moments later, he called me back and said he reconsidered—he could, in fact, add some podi. This small incident highlighted a fundamental issue—the staff’s default approach was to say "no", even for simple requests that could easily be accommodated.
A Positive Gesture
I also requested podi rice without ghee, and though the chef was extremely busy, he agreed to make it for me. While the food quality remained below average, I genuinely appreciated his willingness to help.
Another Unnecessary Denial – Tea Bags & Hot Water
Later that evening, when I requested tea bags and hot water, we were initially denied. When we offered to pay, we were told that cash stations were closed. Even for just hot water, the staff insisted on checking with a senior. After consulting with their senior, they eventually provided it—a good gesture, but the initial hesitation was unnecessary.
Final Thoughts While my stay had some positives (clean rooms, oat milk availability, and the helpful chef), the overall experience did not meet Taj’s high standards.
I hope this feedback is helpful in identifying areas for improvement in guest service and...
Read moreVery disappointed with my recent stay at the Taj Bengaluru airport. I arrived after a long taxi journey to be greeted by a very non caring reception staff. Told to wait for my room i was not told where to sit and despite there being s refreshing looking iced tea trolley by the desk no one offered me any. I was thirsty and rather than swigging out of my water bottle i asked if the iced tea was self service. Another receptionist came over removed an empty glass that had been left by a previous customer and ignored me completely. As if i were a nuisance for asking another receptionist said she would pour me one and proceeded to pour half a glass. Another female staff came to tell me my room was ready. No one offered me with my suitcase so i dragged it myself. Struggling to pull it and hold my key and the hand luggage at the same time the girl then said she would help me with it. By then we were in the lift. In the room she showed me how to use the blinds which made a grinding groaning sound and she said they are not sounding good. What do you want to do? She asked me. I asked what my options are. She said they are not supposed to sound like that. I was tired and didn’t feel i would be playing with the blinds all day when she quickly left perhaps relieved I didn’t ask for a different room. The room was basic, no welcome note, no fruit, just a very somber and basic room but a nice comfy bed. I ordered a meals for one in the room which was so bad i got a stomach ache. India that prides herself on the best cuisine in the world and i am offered by Taj a lacklustre paneer butter masala, hard uncooked aloo and a small portion of rice. It was cold and seemed as if it had come from the buffet which had sat out too long.all for the privilege of spending 2500 r for it. Needless to say my business class flight to uk which i had been looking forward to was ruined by a growling, angry stomach that literally couldn’t face any more food.the shower was good but the water bubbled up through the sink and spat across the bathroom. The taps had to be twisted in different directions and at one point i thought i would have to call someone to turn them off. Upon check out i thought things were looking up when the reception staff offered to walk me over to my airport shuttle but he saw someone else and pointed me in the door direction instead. I received my first smile since arriving from the concierge as i headed for the door. He asked me how my stay was and I felt almost human again. The short five minute shuttle to the airport was good but cost 550r. I have stayed four times at this hotel and each time i ask myself why i do it? The answer is simple… it’s proximity to the airport but I’m going to find somewhere else or fly into Chennai next time. This is a Taj, i expect more than this and as a single international female traveller I want to be...
Read moreWe stayed overnight for the new year event. The ambience and staff are pleasant. Couple of things which were very disappointing is that during the event they didn't mention names of the dishes while serving food as a result many people including us ended up having non veg starters again n again even after asking their waiters where is veg n they misguided us and lot of people got agitated as they had non veg starters . The food was pathetic nothing was tasting good . Very salty starters or appetizers served in grand Ball room under the stars restaurant and all the places , the drinks served were terrible the staff who were making cocktails had no idea of making drinks and it was a complete waste (they couldnt make a simple mojito we were given tasteless water like drink with no swettness or alcohol or taste at all when we told them thats its not made well the men at the grand ball room who was making drinks made a face and then tasted it and told his northeast colleague what have u made n then he made the drink again . The people at reception couldn't guide us about the event and one of their staff men was confidently giving us wrong information as we had platinum band and we knew we can access all events yet he said you can only visit one event in grand Ball room . We told him that he's wrong and he needs to verify before giving information then other staff lady checked and gave us right information and then shamelessly the employee says I just came for my shift I didn't know about the event happenings. Quite disappointing that the employees give wrong information and misguide their guests. The food in japanese restaurant was a set menu with very limited options and sushi n dumplings were very tasteless . Breakfast was also very below average. Only the ambience , rooms and staff attitude was pleasant. Lastly while we were checking out the bell boy did help us load our luggage in car n left but two of their other staff men were simply standing next to our car and took tips from us. We did not like this attitude that they just simply stand next to car when guests check out and take money from us . We don't mind giving tips to staff who help us load luggage or unload luggage escort us to the room etc but just simply standing next to car and taking tips is very shameful on their part being a 5 star hotel employee or staff . This kind of attitude of greed and cheating leaves a very bad impression on guests who are leaving . Firstly their men should not be standing next to the car unnecessarily and secondly if they have not done anything as a service they should not accept tips just like that and put in their pockets . The good ratings are mainly for the ambience of the hotel , rooms and decent behavior of some of their staff excluding the valet men as...
