We felt so much at home staying with Zac and Ramini in Kumily Village. They couldn’t have been kinder or more attentive. A heart warming experience of a genuine 'ordinary' family home. Ramani took so much trouble with our breakfasts and evening meals. We ate a great variety of good food and really enjoyed her cooking and our interesting conversations. They are very friendly and easy to get on with and were so helpful about what to do and where to go. I enjoyed going to a church service with Zac.||||We loved the location. It is a 15 minutes to walk into town or you can get a rickshaw but we positively liked staying in a friendly village community on the edge of town. We were really happy pottering around the immediate neighbourhood and discovering the local Hindu temple and mosque and church; talking to friendly neighbours (and being invited into 3 homes) and watching the 11 elephants being fed and washed at the end of their working day. We were very near the elephants and also the marshall arts display, the musical fountains display, the ‘Magic Show’, the Katakhali dancing and on the edge of the tribal reserve and near meadows with cattle grazing (they walked past our front door twice a day). ||||Our room was nice and freshly decorated, with a large comfortable bed and a modern efficient shower room. We really appreciated the extra space with outside steps up to our own front door. It’s the top floor of the house with 3 guest rooms, a big open plan sitting and dining room, a kitchenette with kettle and sink and a good selection of books (mostly English - including an excellent bird book). We also had the use of the rooftop which was a great bonus, with views over the village and the mountain behind (there was a dramatic forest fire one night). Maybe the the roof could be developed - a couple of comfortable chairs and a table? It was helpful to have a washing line on the roof.||||It was the perfect place for us to come 'home' to after our treks and boat trip in the Periyar Wildlife Reserve. Thanks to our tour operators 'Insider-Tours' / 'Calypso Adventures' for sending us there! We highly recommend it as a lovely experience of the warmth and hospitality of an Indian home and hope to visit them...

Best part is the service provided by the host. Thery were of great help to arrange anything requested. And also they came along with us to book the tickets for elephant ride, Kathakali and kalari shows.
Location of this homestay is the BIG plus as all the visiting places are walkable from this house.
There are many decent restaurants, coffee shops avaialble nearby. From the rooftop the elephant safari and the cultural activity place will be visible.

Read moreJust one of those lovely places where you feel at home in Kerala India. Coshes' is a small 3 roomed homestay with delightful hosts who want you to experience the best of Thekkady.||Before we arrived Koyshy made sure we knew what was on offer in the National Park and pre-organised our Bamboo Rafting and Trek.||He also organised our visit and lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed. The history of the Palace is important to the area and the preservation of the animals and the jungle.||Whilst we didn't experience herds of animals we did see elephants, Indian Gaur, Deer and Lemur in the wild and followed the Tigers footprints for 2 kilometres.||||Ah but the best part about Koshy's is Daisy's delicious home cooking. We couldn't wait for the evening feasts to arrive promptly at 7:00pm. Don't for goodness sake eat out or you will miss the best home home cooking in Kerala.||||Thanks Daisy...
