I recommend this place to stay during your trip to Kodaikanal. Location wise - it is very close to the bus stand but still is located in a serene and calm environment. Has ample parking space and the rooms are quite spacious. The rooms are well managed and hygienic. They have a variety of rooms which could cater to your requirements and I would probably suggest you to go with the lake view room as it offers a stunning view of the Kodaikanal lake. Hot water is available and toiletries are provided on request (which I personally felt should have come along with the room citing the price but no complains there as it’s provided on request to avoid wastage).

The best part of this stay are the employees. They are so welcoming, warm and kind. Shoutout to Chandan Babu (GM) and Karthik for being so friendly and for always going above and beyond to cater to our requests. They were kind enough to provide us a different room based on availability just because we asked for a room with the lake view. They also helped us with the local travel by directing us to a good and reasonable agent. Definite five star for their service.

Next is the breakfast that is provided. Hands down that was best buffet breakfast I have had in a very long time. Though the menu is quite limited, the taste was mind blowing. One of the days we had Poori, Idly, Dosa, Vada and Kichidi. The next day we had Pongal along with other few items but there wasn’t even a single dish which we didn’t like and everything was way above our expectations.

The hotels restaurant “ten degrees” is also quite good but a little bit on the costlier side.We were also offered a small pack of chocolates when we checked out (which was again a great gesture). They do have bonfire and few other indoor games like foosball as well.

Couple of things to improve : Toiletries to be provided while checking in , Few things in the room felt a bit old and unusual like stains on sofa and bedsheets which were slightly torn etc. Not a big deal though

Overall, this is one such place that I would definitely recommend for your leisure family/group stay...

Not only did he discreetly ensure our security during our visit, but he also unexpectedly appeared just when we needed assistance the most. When we found ourselves stuck on a hill looking for another hotel, Rahul appeared like a guardian angel and guided us to our destination.

What truly touched us was Rahul's proactive approach. On the day of our departure, I casually mentioned my desire to have my car cleaned, and to my surprise, Rahul had already taken care of it before we could even ask. This level of attentiveness is truly exceptional and sets Mountain Retreat apart.

The rooms at Mountain Retreat were not only cozy but also impressively clean and fragrant, providing a sense of calm and relaxation. The food served at the retreat was delicious, satisfying our taste buds with a variety of flavors.

Furthermore, the retreat offered a range of recreational activities, and our kids had a blast enjoying the games and exploring the beautiful lawn. This added to the overall experience, making it a great destination for families as well.
