We were supposed to stay at "Adus Eternal Comfort" in Leh - we had excellent references from people who had actually stayed here on more than one occasion. However, when we reached Adus, we found that there were some major repairs going on and also one lady had fallen ill on her return from Pangong the previous day and hence, the room meant for us was not available !||||Anyway, Mrs. Adu had already made arrangements at Adu's brothers place, "Mandal Chen", which was quite close by. We reached there around 10.30am and we were pleasantly greeted by Mrs. Chimi. ||||Mandal Chen had an even better location and view than Adus' and hence we were not disappointed ! We were quickly made comfortable in our room, hot tea and sandwiches followed soon after.||||There are just 6 rooms and the two boys look after all the guests with a smile ! We had hot phulkas (rotis), sabji, daal and rice for lunch - just like we would have at home - and we chose to have our lunch out in the courtyard under the sun as it was very nice and comfortable outside.||||The room and bath room are clean ,spacious and comfortable. A geyser in the bathroom meant there was no problem for hot water for use in the bathroom.||||Mr. Nawang came by in the evening to inquire if we were comfortable and Mr. Adu dropped by too later to offer his apologies for not being able to give us a room in his place !||||This really is a home away from home and for that price you cannot go wrong ! Food was cooked to our specifications, hot water in a flask was supplied as many times as we asked for, room heater, extra blankets - no problem !||||We chose to come back and stay overnight on our return from Pangong 3 days later on our way back to Delhi.||||A hotel may offer more luxuries and frills, but this was really a home for us !||||Leh has probably around 200 Guest Houses and quite a few may be just as good. Still, I will highly recommend this place if you want a home instead...
Read moreWorst experience at MandalaChan Hotel Leh||||We were a group of 15 people including 8 children on Leh Ladakh trip. We have booked Hotel Mandalaa Chan Hotel in Leh for 3 nights (2 nights in starting and 1 night after return from Pangong Lake. ||||After 6-8 hours of journey with approx. 225-250 Kms from Kargil, We reached leh approx. By 9-9:30.||||We had an advanced booking of luxurious rooms in his hotel and had a voucher for booking.||||Upon reaching They asked us to take our stay in his neighbour's guest house Primerose Guest House which is approx 1 star guest house not upto the mark of our booking and money we spend. Manager of MandalaChan Hotel Mr. Mukesh and GM of hotel Mr. Pervez tried to convince us to stay in the guest house for 1 night and then next day they will transfer us to the actual hotel MandalaChan as they didn't care about our booking and take other bookings for that particular night.||||Room quality in the guest house was extremely bad and room conditions are extremely worst. We refused to stay there but Manager and GM informed us that this is their chain hotel while it was clearly a 1 star guest house. On our refusal and asked our agent about this fraud, hotel people again try to accomodate us in its another neighbour guest House Mangyul Guest House which is also poor quality of stay. ||||We have requested a manager multiple times to provide rooms in our booked Hotel but they were not bothered to show hospitality. It was the worst experience as they didn't care about the customer situation.||||We highly recommend not to book this hotel who gave this kind of service and reason and not showing any hospitality & humanity for even children who travelled 225-250 kms and hungry.||||Pls don't visit MandalaChan of Leh City. ||||For your ready reference l am sharing some photos of the...
Read moreTwo girls, after doing a 20 hours journey from Manali, reaching their "Guest House" at 10 PM, after searching for their guest house for 30-45 mins, trying hard to reach their only contact number mentioned in the booking. And what we face is the wrath of the wife of the owner first. Her rude words, not at all apologetic about not being able to connect to us to tell us where exactly their guest house is, which apparently even the Taxi drivers weren't able to figure out. She started asking us double the money.||||After a long argument with the lady, we silently went inside our rooms as we just didn't have any patience left. And then comes the owner of the guest house and he started shouting on us because he had been informed that we spoke in high pitch. He kept on shouting at us and asking for money. We left the place that time with our luggage. They didn't have any courtesy or sympathy at all.||||We had tried to inform these owners the night we booked a room in their guest house that we might reach earlier than 7AM. Again, the network issues on their phone didn't let us hear what exactly they said. By the way, these owners didn't make a single effort to try reaching us.||||Trust me folks, it's a newly built guest house and not so famous in Leh. By famous, I mean, Leh being a very small place, the people know each other quite well. But this one, they didn't have any clue. If the place is so great, the owners are so great, they why is that nobody knows the way to it?||||Bottom line is, if you are travelling to Leh, please look for another place to stay. There are many good guest houses in Upper Tukcha where the owners aren't arrogant an money-hungry like...
