Overall, I would say that this is a good hotel. However, it desperately needs a renovation, and the staff need new uniforms. Also, despite claims to the contrary, this is NOT a 5 star hotel, from any angle.
The only thing 5 Star over here are the prices. I mean c'mon guys....5 star hotels don't put paper mats, with kiddie puzzles on them for breakfast, lunch AND dinner!
The food, though good, is expensive. Since this is a hotel for people who mainly go for a pilgrimage to the Sai Baba Temple, the food is pure vegetarian.
Looking at the hotel condition, I thought the food wouldn't be that expensive...so I ordered stuff from the menu without checking out the prices...yeah, I was careless. I ended up paying a bomb for ice cream. The prices are 5 Star alright.
Here's a list of pros & cons -
Pro's:
Polite, helpful staff. Clean rooms with good air conditioning, but they're turning dingy and showing signs of age. Clean bathrooms, but again, they're showing signs of age. Not dirty at all, but just...old. Pickup & drop facility to the Sai Baba Temple, on demand (I really liked this) Good Food Huge lawns with a decently sized swimming pool. Fitness Facilities/gym available. Centrally located
Con's:
The hotel desperately needs renovation. Work has started in the ground floor, but the rooms are showing signs of age. Like I said, NOT a 5 Star hotel. Bathrooms need renovation, fitments are showing signs of age. Paper mats with KIDDY PUZZLES on them in the main restaurant. Worn out uniforms on staff, especially the waiters. Worn out napkins on the table, with threads sticking out of them. Almost non functioning AC in the main dining hall. Rattly, noisy elevators. The WiFi is paid and not very fast. I got a 1 mbps connection.
I know, I know...some people may think I'm nit picking....but my main aim for putting these points here is that though these guys are charging 5 star prices and claiming to be a 5 star hotel, their standards leave a lot to be desired.
The overall experience was pleasant. I PROBABLY would stay here again...but I probably also would do a bit more research if I can find something better for the same price, or lesser.
I stayed here...
Read moreDisappointed so far. I was told that I had to pay an extra Rs. 750 extra bed for my 9 year old daughter. Since we booked room for two people. I complied.
But these 5-star hotel's idea of an extra bed was basically covering the existing sofa in our mosquito infested room with a bedsheet and a sorry excuse of a pillow and bed cover.
It was only when we complained in the middle of the night that they actually sent us an extra bed.
Truly disappointed by their petty behavior.
You'll see sun n sand ads on countless billboards from airport to their location. Claiming they are 5 stars.
But you know what? Calling yourself 5-star hotel and charging your guests 5-star rates is easy. Giving 5-star service isn't. and you guys clearly lack at giving 5-star service.
I dont have to complain to get the extra bed I am paying for.
And charging me Rs. 750/night for my daughter to sleep on the sofa is ridiculous.
The sofa comes with the room i already paid for. If I wanna sit on the sofa, sleep on the sofa, or even dance on the sofa, I should not have to pay an extra penny.
Are you gonna charge me extra for using the toilet in the room as well? I hope not!
I have stayed in plenty of 5 star hotels. And when they charge for anything I gladly pay because I am guaranteed to get my mind blown. I know I will get a great experience in return. But I didnt get it in Sun n Sand. What I got was pure pettiness.
They only wanted to see if their guests are willing to put up with their shenanigans.
Well, bad news - we are not. At least not me.
Still have one more night to stay here. Let's see what they can do to turn this...
Read moreOur rooms were on the 4th floor. We checked in late night at 11:50 pm and moment we got on 4th floor, we found intense smoking smell as if a large group of people smoked here for hours. Travelling with kids and senior citizens this was most obnoxious and for non smokers, persons on medication and kids even hard time breathing. I found out that Yogesh Thomre, the guy at the reception gave us smoking floor without caring even to check with us and upon asking why so, started in turn to question why i did not reserve non smoking floor. Also mentioned that all other rooms were booked already and there was no room in non smoking zone. This same guy when checking in didn't fail to mention we'll be charged extra for a kid plus how much will be total charges post tax. Later when i shouted at the reception and asked him to call his manager. He said he's the only guy around and was not willing to call anyone. Later on, when i raised my voice a little more, he picked up his phone and called up another guy and after 20 mins of drama he said he can send us to some other rooms on the 6th floor. He called it "Upgrading." However on 6th flr also rooms are all the same. I find Yogesh Thomre really one stubborn idiot who derives pleasure in harassing families and management of hotel must deal with this guy strictly if they want to retain reputation of this hotel unless they're...
