Hotel Jai Paradise — Hotel in Puducherry

I landed up at a hotel called Hotel Jai Paradise for lunch. It was a nice place, owned by an ex-chef from Carnival Cruises. He introduced himself and was overjoyed to know that I was also from the marine field. We chatted for a long time. I wanted to have Chettinad cuisine that day, and asked him if he could comply, to which he retorted “gladly”. I left the choice of dishes to him stipulating it should be one fish and one chicken. Chettinad cuisine is the cuisine of the Chettiar community and the Chettinad region of Tamil Nadu state. Chettinad cuisine is considered (arguably) one of the spiciest and the most aromatic in India. Well for a side dish, I got a masala fried slice of king fish (Surmai) and a slightly pungent but finger-licking chicken Chettinad curry with the local large grain rice. It was great and I finished every morsel. I expected a big bill considering the ambiance and the service, but to my surprise the cost was quite competitive. If you are expecting a very good customer oriented service then please don't go here. We requested a person called "Vignesh" to switch on the AC after a day, he said he will charge for complete 2 days. While asking him to have a fair price and not to charge extra, he was soooooo rude and he told us to vacate rooms with a very very high pitch tone. We were 14 ppl with family and kids. I was trying to explain him not to be rude and he might lose customer if he behaves like that for that he replied "it's okay, i don't care".

If we want to talk about the rooms, Rooms are just okay with broken windows and cracked doors. You can't expect a hi-fi service.

The room cleaning ppl are always behind money if they catch you while vacating rooms but they can never be seen when you need them to clean the rooms.. LoL..

When our group say Pondicherry my heart will say 'Jai Paradise'. Its a paradise of its own kind. We love this place so much. Every time we start our car & cross Pit Stop, More shop I will dial Jai paradise & book the room which has a balcony attached to it. I would just say we Five People are coming, With just my voice they will understand that its me & my group who are once again coming. Its easily accessible via ECR & Tindivanam route. Beautiful room with two beds where even 6 people can sleep as we had tried once & it was successful. Chill AC Room @ Budget price & we being frequent visitors will ask for discount. Love the food too. Try curd rice with onion pakoda after boozing. Tandoori chicken too rocks as my friends said. Definite one time visit. .
