The Essence Brew Pondicherry — Restaurant in Puducherry

This place just opened a few weeks ago, and I was curious about the lack of Google reviews, so I decided to check it out. Located inside the Accord Hotel, the location isn’t an issue at all, plus you get the perk of valet parking. The brewery is on the 4th floor, which seemed odd and made me wonder how popular it really is. Sure enough, I was the only customer there at 1 pm on a Saturday. The decor felt more like a bar than a brewery, despite the visible brew tanks. Personally, I don’t mind the bar vibe as long as the beer and food are good.

I started with the sampler since there were no reviews to guide me. Unfortunately, all six samplers tasted like water. The IPA, my favorite type of craft beer, had no flavor and was super diluted. I mentioned this to the server, who quickly got the manager involved. The manager promised to fix the issue before I ordered a full-sized beer. True to his word, the next IPA I tried was much better—it tasted like a completely different beer. Apparently, the server didn’t know how to pour the first glass of the day and needed to clear the lines first. The Tripple was the next best beer, a strong malt brew, but I skipped the rest since they were standard lagers and pilsners, which aren’t my thing.

The food was another letdown. It arrived undercooked, but they fixed it when I sent it back, and it was much better the second time. They didn’t charge me for the sampler, likely because I complained and the manager agreed it was diluted.

Overall, they need to pay more attention to detail. It’s no surprise the place was empty, but it’s still early days, and I hope they iron out...

Honestly the place was very underwhelming.. The food was not upto the mark. We ordered some starters and were disappointed by all. The mains, Indian seemed ok. However, the pizza was as though someone had added ketchup as the base sauce. The club sandwich was also not great. I believe they have a lot of work to.do there. The only plus is the service. The staff are super nice and always willing to help. I think that is the only saving grace...

It was a great night and I would like to highly recommend to chill out and the live band was so great and jollyfull..

Mr kanna was really good on assisting us and showing us and explaining about the brewery..
