Hotel Golden Sand — Hotel in Puri

Most unhygienic hotel ever. The rooms were very unclean and dirty. The table tops were black with dirt. First we paid advance for 2 AC rooms before coming and then when we came, owner said in one of our 2 rooms the AC isn't functioning so they are repairing it. The staff is very complacent as our family of 4 adjusted in one room for half a day even after paying for 2 rooms. Then towards the evening we got our room. After a while the AC malfunctioned again and we had to be shifted into a different room the next day. This was too much of a hassle. The rooms need to be thoroughly deep cleaned and the entire hotel is broken and under construction and full of dirt and debris. I have attached a picture of the stairs where the staircase is broken and instead nylon thread it tied. It is a severe security hazard. Small children can easily go and fall down and get injured. The entire hotel staff doesn't give two shits about the customers or their experience.

We lived in 3 rooms over the span of 4 days and both had taps without their cover and it looked gross. The bathrooms are not even provided with a basic rack nor did we get a soap (bare minimum) until we asked for it.

All the sockets and switchboards were very loose and coming off every time we tried to take out the charger or the hotel key. Image has been attached, the electric boards are literally about to fall off. Incredibly pathetic condition. Also safety hazard. Too many safety hazards here.

The beds themselves were okay. But the ACs have gone to shit. Or maybe its the remotes. Because in none of the rooms the ac remotes seem to work and we constantly had to call one of the staff to help with the AC. It was a total disaster.

At the time of paying bill the owner kept saying nonsense like “We will make a lift, the entire hotel will be renovated, next time you come you will find it a changed place.” But we will give reviews according to our present experience not based on baseless future promises. Would never recommend anyone...

An affordable hotel for those who wants to stay near Puri Beach, near Puri Swargadwar, wants to view the sea from room but is not ready to shell out too much money for that. The hotel is just behind Hotel Camelia and has a lovely view of the sea from its 2nd and 3rd floor balcony / window. The hotel has all the basic amenities including decent rooms, clean bathroom, a working air condition and a functional kitchen (you will have to pre-order at least an hour before). However, if you are looking for luxury, then this hotel is not for you. The price is very affordable compared to the other properties near the sea beach. The 2nd floor room with Balcony charges are Rs 2500 - Rs 2700 per night (7 AM Day 1 to 8 AM Day 2). The Ground / 1st / 3rd floor should be less than the above charges. This is excluding breakfast.There is no lift though. Food quality is ok if you stick to simple Bengali dishes. My suggestion would be to eat breakfast from here. If you take butter toast, omelette and tea for breakfast, then for 2 it will cost you around Rs 200 per day.  For lunch and dinner, there are some wonderful eateries nearby within walking distance - Sholo Ana Bangali and  Sudipar Rannaghar -  if you prefer Bengali food or Seagull for Chinese and Fisherman's Kitchen for seafood and continental (they make decent sizzlers). Prices mentioned above might change...

We stayed 3 days in this hotel. We booked one AC and one non AC. Rooms were OK type.... But bathrooms were not that much cleaned. Dressing table was full of dust. In AC room TV was not working. As per our knowledge they didn't change the bedsheet and pillow covers of non AC room. We ordered lunch (non veg Katla fish thali) on the first day. They didn't give Katla fish and the fish what they provide were fully spoilt one. So, we decided to take food from outside. We visited Jagannath Temple by ourselves. For that reason suddenly one staff most probably dalal of that hotel came to our room and started quarreling with us. We booked one package tour for sight seeing. For that also they disturbed us continuously. According to them, the tourist who stays in their hotel should use all their services. 3 days we suffered in that hotel. So I suggest before booking in this hotel, kindly take all the information properly then...
