Bidesh Ghar came highly recommended by several friends, and after dining there, I can see why. We opted for their traditional thali, which did not disappoint. The flavors of the sabjis were exceptionally comforting and brought back memories of home-cooked meals.
We sampled both the fish thali, priced at a very reasonable ₹150, and the chicken thali at ₹185. Each dish was a delightful journey through authentic tastes. The fish thali featured a delicious serving of sorshe katla, which had just the right amount of mustard tang, while the chicken thali was equally impressive with tender, flavorful pieces.
Beyond the thalis, we also tried their homestyle chicken, served in a light, tasty gravy. The dish included four pieces of chicken that were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and not overly greasy, making it a healthy choice.
Each thali came with a generous assortment: fluffy rice, puisak we sobji with macher matha (vegetables with fish head), daaler borar torkari (lentil dumplings in curry), musur daal (red lentil soup), and a sweet and tangy chutney to round off the meal. The variety and quality of the accompaniments were superb, providing a well-rounded and satisfying experience.
The restaurant's cleanliness is noteworthy, contributing to a pleasant dining atmosphere. Given the combination of cleanliness, excellent food, and value for money, Bidesh Ghar is a must-try for anyone looking for a homely meal...

Crab masala was delicious, medium spicy and well cooked it was served as a part of Crab thali. It can be order separately and as per quantity can be shared by two. Chingri (Prawn) Malai Curry was a well cooked authentic Bengali dish. Prawn was fresh, the quantity was good enough as per the price. Mutton curry was the show stopper it was Extremely delicious, every bite of it is like a mouth full of tenderly cooked juicy mutton with rich spices curry. Tried Mushroom masala and Paratha from the Veg menu and I must say I was bowled out by the taste of Mushroom Masala . Place is easy to find out it's right next to Bharat Sevashram. Otherwise if we focus on Food this...
Read moreThis restaurant has won my heart. I am such a person who has visited Puri for more than 29 times and every time I visit Puri this restaurant is in my list always for lunch. If you love Hilsha, yes, I repeat, if you are an “Ilish” lover then this place is for you. At the cost of 220/- only what size of fresh Hilsha piece you get in your plate is beyond imagination. Fish is no doubt fresh. Actually the fishes arie bought daily and everyday’s stock is cleared. So there is no possibility that you will get rotten fish, preserved fish whatever. You will always get the good quality fresh fish here. Not only Hilsha, you will get other fishes like Pabda Jhal, Pursey, Rohu everything. Apart from that Crabs, Prawns are also available that too of very good quality. Chicken, Egg are common and available there. I will recommend you try the Ilish here. You won’t get a single piece Hilsha below 500-600 in other restaurants that too not fresh and small pieces. Come here to enjoy the fish only. Other foods like mixed veg, shukto are also very tasty. Overall it’s a value for money restaurant serving the best food at Puri. It’s your...
