Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (also transliteratedCaitanya Mahāprabhu) (18 February 1486 – 14 June 1534), formally known as Shri Krishna Chaitanya (Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya) was aHindu mystic, saint, and the chief proponent of the Achintya Bheda Abheda and Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition within Hinduism. He also expounded the Vaishnava school ofBhakti yoga (meaning loving devotion to God), based on Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita.Of various forms and direct or indirect expansions of Krishna such as LordNarasimha (Krishna in mood of anger), Maha-Vishnu and Garbhodakshaya Vishnu respectively, he is Krishna in the mood of a devotee. He popularised the chanting of theHare Krishna mantra and composed theSiksastakam (eight devotional prayers) inSanskrit. His followers, Gaudiya Vaishnavas, revere him as a Krishna with the mood and complexion of his source of inspiration Radha. His birthday is celebrated...

This statue was established by Dr. Jaydev Mukhopadhyay... He was a Chaitanya researcher and tried to solve the mystery of disappearance of mahaprabhu... In the book 'Kahan gele toma paai' he mostly proved that mahaprabhu had been murdered... But before releasing the 2nd part of the book he was murdered also and the case was closed soon... His name was written under this statue.. But after his death the nameplate was broken... There are many story about the disappearance of chaitanya dev... But till now the truth is...

Well known beautiful statue of Chitanya Mahaprabhu in the junction of Marine Drive road, swargadwar market, and swargadwar sea beach, Puri. Very Good feeling when arrived & revisited after a long time. The area is very congested and very busy road with crowded traffic, full of auto, toto, car, bus and other vehicles. No proper way or foothpath beside the road to walk for pedestrian. Always to be very much aware and careful....
