I had been to the restaurant yesterday for my anniversary celebration. I had checked out the place earlier when I had been to the Fort. Below are my reasons for a probable 3.5 out of 5.
The place is really beautiful. The location is really precise and worth staying or at least visiting. The sunset was really beautiful. They have open terrace as well as indoor restaurants good enough to fit around 25-30 people. The staff and their coutesy was adequate. Not too much not too little. They were polite, professional and efficient. The snacks and the starters along with beverage are really good. The standard and the quality of these items are really good. I would definitely recommend this place even for stay. I would have done it if I was not from Chittorgarh.
Now the reasons for deduction in the rating/things for improvement.
I was overcharged for decoration. I had informed them about my anniversary celebration and asked them to do what they can. Happy anniversary was written on a tray using a chocolate sauce and some 10 balloons were placed around the Table. I was charged 200 for this. In my personal opinion they could have done better. If not they should not have overcharged for the stuff they did. Need improvement in Main course - I recommend them to explore options in main course and improve the quality of it. But if the sale for main course is less, then I understand where they are coming from. But just a thought put across. Permission for camera - I was carrying a DSLR set up as I expected few brilliant pictures of my family as they have got a really beautiful set up. I was denied the permission to use the Dslr rather I was told to use my phone.
I agree nowadays smart phones have brilliant camera set ups but I would not waste owning such a beautiful place and denying the use of camera to the customers. It's going to make them popular only if they allow.
AND of course professional camera shoots can be spotted easily if that their concern.
So here is the review.
Don't get me wrong, I would still visit the place and be vary of the...
Read moreWe are on a Rajasthan road trip, doing 8 cities. Chittorgarh was our last destination and we wanted to end the trip on a high, after a wonderful time spent.
We had booked Rang Mahal almost 3 months in advance by paying 50%. The owner really sold it to us - it’s inside the fort, exclusive, only two rooms (Maharani and Maharaja), my best property, and so on.
In reality, it’s a place right on the road (literally), has a common entrance to a cafe (so there is no privacy and is noisy like hell throughout the day and till late night), there is a security concern, and the Maharani and Maharaja rooms are but pigeonholes with no ventilation, small beds, and no facilities. The tariff is 4-star, but the property is probably 1-star.
When we spoke to the owner and told him of the problems and asked him why he had misguided us (and taken the advance), he was arrogant, said that he doesn’t like any negative feedbacks about his property and asked us to leave the property if we didn’t like it. Which is exactly what we did. He didn’t even give an invoice for the advance, despite requesting him multiple times.
There are much better places in Chittorgarh, with better facilities and at a better rate, avoid this one of you can. Go there only...
Read moreA small pretty boutique hotel with just 2 rooms in Chittor garh. I live in Mumbai - India and travel often. This was a family leisure trip. Rang Mahal is on top of a mountain just at the beginning of Chittor fort. We booked both the rooms as we were 3 of us. The king room overlooking the street, was beautiful, big with a clean & large washroom with modern amenities . The queen room was smaller, and less spacious, again with a lovely washroom. The rooms were comfortable. The rooms in Rang Mahal have lights on the ceiling fan with strings attached. To switch it on , you have to climb on the chair, very inconvenient. Few amenities in the washroom were lacking. They had shampoo & lotion in the washroom but no shower gel. The mug kept in the washroom was filthy, not changed inspite of informing. The hot and cold mixer in the washroom was not working properly. They had a rooftop restaurant with spectacular views but the food ( more appealing to western taste ) had scope for improvement. The meals are relatively inexpensive. Breakfast is not a buffet spread but 2 items in consultation with guests. No toast, fruit or muesli. Rang Mahal is good for a...
