Cliff resort is a great place to stay and they are family friendly. We took standard room for four.
Plus:
Room was neat. We got standard room that had two rooms and two double beds. Geyser, microwave, mini fridge, kettle and fans were provided in the standard room.
Bathroom was clean. They provided towels, soap, shampoo, and on request they change bedsheets. They were all clean and good. The room had a cup board and a safe too.
Hotel is located in a calm place, very near to the lake and on the way to the Kiliyur falls. We were lucky enough to get a good view of the lake (mostly hidden by the trees, not by the buildings) and morning sunrise from our room. The front office staff told me that the deluxe/premium rooms have better view.
Staff are responsible and helpful. Room service was fine and punctual. They do not expect tips.
They offer two water bottles, morning coffee/tea, and pack with milk powder and tea pockets daily. We also got complementory breakfast with our hotel room booking.
There is a kids play area and work out area near the restaurant ... but you need to climb down a bit. Do not miss the view of the valley and mountains from there.
Breakfast was generally good. They offer buffet that has juice, idly, vada, dosa, upma/kitchadi, pongal, sweet, bread toast, and tea/coffee.
Note:
If you are with kids and elderly people, beware that they need to climb a 45° road to reach the restaurant. Better take the car, and take help if you are not an experienced driver. Make sure to use stones/rocks for the tyres to park safely. The parking break is not sufficient.
You need to use your mobile to reach out the room service and to the restaurant as ther will be no intercoms.
Coffee and tea is not available after the evenings. You have to use the kettle in the room.
Just like any hotel, food is costly. Pack your dinner if possible.
Minus:
There were small issues... such as bathroom lock was not good and we could not lock from outside. At least we were able to lock from inside 😃. The balcony door had some gap and added more cold to the room.
One of the beds was a sofa-cum-bed type and it was not perfectly made as bed at one side. We had to use a small pillow and towel to make...
Read moreAll our excitement to enjoy our vacation in Yercaud was destroyed after reaching this resort.. No proper guidance by the resort people.. Since this is my first visit to Yercaud, I finished my self driving normally from Chennai to entrance gate of this resort. The pathway from the gate to reception is very steep slope. Unfortunately I drove half way on the slope.. my car was not moving up and I gave up driving further and called hotel people for help.. one person came and took over my car from me.. Handed over my car to him believing he would take care.. My bad he didn't even mind of anything and suddenly took off the hand break.. car went down the steep slope in an uncontrolled manner and front panel peeled off since the side of the car rubbed in the side wall.. resort people were least bothered about this incident and asked us to check-in. Then we went to near by mechanic shop..I spent rest of the evening at mechanic shop and paid money to get my car repaired..
Moreover the resort was not worth for money we paid 5k+ per night.. we stayed in room 218 and the car parking is infront of the room and that slope was not that steep and had a tar road.. There wasn't a need for us to drive till the reception if we knew that our room was no where the reception... our situation might have been avoided if the resort provided proper guidance/sign board..There was no person in the security cabin in the entrance gate. The room alloted to us was a very very old room. The front portion of the room had a sofa cum bed and then inside there was another room with a double bed. The bathroom fittings were pathetic and taps were very loose, curtains were dirty , the white wash from the walls left mark on our luggage. Switches need to handled very carefully and doesn't work right away. The breakfast was not worth the money we paid for 2 people. We would never visit this resort again and wouldn't recommend to anyone else. Some guys(no sure if from other room or housekeeping staff) were singing loudly and playing music through out the night and couldn't get...
Read moreWe were two families that traveled to this resort between 14 to 15 May 2022. I had visited this place sometime in Aug 2015. Based on the previous experience, I decided to stay at this place to let the kids have a break after a long while. Here is my upfront review of this property.||||Pros - Good views, caring housekeeping and kitchen staff, quiet near to all the tourist spots (especially the Yercaud lake) and the gaming arena called Poppy's. ||||Cons - Very steep climb if you are not travelling by your own/rented vehicle. The rooms need better maintenance. Electricity is an issue (goes off umpteen times in a day), In the premium category and in sharp contrast to what you see in the gallery or photos, the rooms need better care, bathrooms have modern shower fittings and the likes but water leaks from every pore. Hot water is an issue (again owing to the electricity issue). Also, the bathrooms are very slippery after a bath. The pantry appliances like the fridge and microwave could be more clean and maintained well. The double bed cots need better care since some are very rickety (even if you sit or lie down). Furnitures are very old and require change. Well, I could go on but hey, we are just out of Covid and business may be catching up. So, the benefit of doubt goes to the hotel. Hope, they note down the issues and start doing something about it slowly. A welcome kit with basics like a couple of good soaps, shampoos, dental effects etc can up the USP. They do not ask for any review of reference which I think is something they should start doing. ||||Summary - A place you can visit but do not hope or imagine what you see on the photos. Thanks to Karthik and the rest of the team who are doing a...
