Not a good experience at Ginger hotel Gomti Nagar in Lucknow. Quite a few issues: 1 - Rooms are VERY VERY SMALL. Apparently it is by design. The hotel is good enough for one person to stay overnight for one night at a relatively cost effective price. Although there are twin beds in some rooms, they do nothing but make already less space even lesser. 2 - Serious condensation issues in the rooms. Every few hours, the floors get moist and wet because of condensation issues in the room. This percolates to the walls and it can be seen that corners are decayed/broken/re-painted to hide the mould. 3 - Cigarette burn marks all over the floors. 4 - AC defaulting to 16 deg C after power outage and automatically starting even if switched to off mode, which is very inconvenient during nights. 5 - Bath area doesn't have any towel holder which is a problem if two people are in the room - why offer twin beds if only one person is expected to stay in a room? 6 - Bath doors have holes in them instead of door handles - again a problem if two people are staying in the twin bed room - again highlighting the fact that rooms are only meant for a single person.
The staff is courteous. They acknowledge the problems but don't have solutions as they are larger design issues which can only be solved by hotel management. In Rs 500 extra per night one can find rooms in other hotels in the same area which are larger, offer much better amenities, have much better restaurants and overall ambiance.
Although they have rooms available at a slightly lesser price than other hotels in the area, their rooms are certainly NOT worth the money...
Read moreI had the misfortune of being out up in Ginger Lucknow as part of a film crew I am shooting with. And I swear, living here has been the worst experience ever. From not changing bedsheets and towels for six days at a stretch, to staff who come to deliver food who can't get enough of creepy staring, to always getting the simplest of orders wrong and never replacing the things that are taken away after cleaning, I genuinely wish I had the authority to move to a different hotel. But I could not because of the project I was a part of. So much so that after the second day I stopped having lunch and dinner here, and even though I woukd only order tea in the morning, there were times I had to send the waiter back again and again to get the cups and sugar and the quantity right, that too repeatedly. I think either you need to hire a new staff or at least clarify on the website that most people who work here are dim and need to be told the same thing six times before they get what the customer wants. Even my bedsheeta or the mattress had some issues so much so that I'd wake up with a rash all over my hands and legs almost every day till I yelled at the reception and got the sheets and bed cleaned or replaced. On top of that the fitness centre here is totally non existent and a complete lie if you look at the misleading photos on the site. There is no smoking room, and very little storage space if one is living here for more than 2 days. I hope you guys...
Read moreI think I wasn’t expecting large rooms and 5* plus ambience in this hotel. When I booked - my priorities were to have clean rooms, clean washrooms with great service. I wanted to write the review - not to let you know about the service - which I kind of find similar across hotel chains - But there are a few who undertake that extra alertness in the way they address issues and the level of personalisation that they display to ensure the well being of a customer. Lucknow Ginger is surely one of them. Everyone addresses you with a smile. Everyone will address you with a sorry - if things go wrong. I am diabetic and was on a diet - they took additional care to prepare stuff as advised by the dietician and at times deliver the same to my room - even if it was late in the night. Even if I demanded something which was beyond what they could offer - the politeness in the refusal was admirable. My review will not be over unless I mention about Mr. Sandeep Kumar - (I found him working at 11:00 pm in the night & also during our breakfast).... extremely hardworking gentleman. It was him who almost singlehandedly managed my health requirements. Ofcourse, it wouldn’t have been possible - unless backed by his team Mr. S S Singh & Mr. Asif - that’s understandable. I was here with my entire family. And, today is our last day. I made it a point to complete this review before leaving. If I come again to Lucknow - I know now I have an...
