The worst experience of my life was at a hotel called House of Gypsy in Rishikesh.
I had booked this hotel online through MakeMyTrip because it had good ratings, but I later realized those ratings were fake. When I arrived at the hotel for check-in, I was made to wait at the reception for 1.5 hours because they didn’t have any rooms available.
After the long wait, I was finally given a room on the third floor — but the lift was not working. When I reached the room, the bedsheet was extremely dirty, there were no towels, and the dustbin was already full. I tried calling the reception at least 10 times, but no one answered. Eventually, I had to go down myself and complain, but it was useless. I went down three times just to request a clean bedsheet, but the person at the reception told me it was out of their hands, and the owner doesn’t take any action.
Later, I ordered food, but even for that, I had to go downstairs again because the hotel doesn’t have its own kitchen, and they don’t allow outside food to be delivered to the rooms.
To top it all off, at the time of check-out, I found that my car had been damaged while being parked by the hotel staff. When I raised this issue, they simply said the CCTV was not working and that they couldn’t do anything. They advised me to complain online since the booking was made through MakeMyTrip.
I contacted MakeMyTrip and raised a complaint. They told me a senior team member would call me within 24 hours, but now it has been more than a day, and I haven’t received any call.
Please don’t waste your money and time here. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and the staff is even worse than the...

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Our experience at House of Gypsy, Rishikesh, was nothing short of a nightmare.
Shady booking practices: Despite a confirmed Agoda booking, we were told upon arrival that our room wasn’t available. As we were walking away to find another place, they suddenly "found" the room and came running after us. Highly unprofessional and sketchy. No basic amenities: The room had NO water, NO towels, and NO dental kits. Even budget accommodations provide these basics, but apparently, this place thinks otherwise. Ridiculous extortion attempt: At night, the wind shattered our glass window. They said we can't do anything at night. The next morning, instead of addressing the poor-quality infrastructure, they forced us to pay for the damages and refused to let us leave the property until we did. This not only ruined our trip but also wasted our time and money. Horrible management: The staff clearly has no idea how to run a hospitality business. From booking scams to borderline hostage situations, staying here was an absolute disaster.
If you value your peace of mind and don’t want to be scammed, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Plenty of better options in Rishikesh—this one is not...
Read moreI stayed at this place for 3 days.I booked a non balcony room which was a very small room so I asked the staff to change it and to shift me to a room with balcony, which they did without any hassle. I paid a little extra as room with balconies have a higher price than normal ones and then I was shifted to a balcony room which was good but don’t expect any mountain view from the balcony. However the location was good and I could easily get a scooty from the hotel itself. Now there are a few things that I want the hotel staff to consider. Firstly, They should provide basic essentials like toiletries, kettle, tea, coffee and sugar sachets to ensure a good guest experience. I had to ask for these essentials like toilet roll, water bottle, towels and a kettle. I only got a water bottle and a kettle from them. Secondly, please don’t give dirty and used blankets to your customers. When I asked for one extra blanket I got a dirty blanket which was literally stinking. I asked them to change it which they did and provided me with a clean one. The wardrobe of the room was also dusty. Lastly, I think the staff should be more warm and welcoming, specially the guy who sits at the reception as everyone likes it when they are received warmly...
