OYO Hotel Vishla Palace — Hotel in Uttarakhand

First the good points. This newly built hotel is staffed by a young friendly (albeit untrained) team; management were also friendly and helpful allowing us to check in early. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from Laxman Jula (there is a pleasant short cut at the rear of the hotel thus avoiding the necessity of walking via the congested and dusty main road). ||||Our bedroom was decorated to a good standard and tastefully furnished. There was a comfortable bed with clean and good quality bed linen (unfortunately my partner found the bed a little short being over 6 ft tall). Wi-Fi was fast. ||||Importantly, the hotel has 24 hour back up generator which certainly comes in handy in Rishikesh!||||Our problems arose before check in. We had booked via booking.com and was instructed that we could pay at the property. A couple of weeks before our arrival we received an email from OYO rooms asking for payment within 72 hrs or they would instruct booking.com to cancel our booking.||We emailed the manager stating that we had not booked our room through this agent and would not be sending them the money. We stated that if the hotel wanted the money before our arrival to send us their bank details which they did. Before we had chance to send the money we received another email from OYO stating that as we had not paid within 72 hrs our booking was cancelled. I emailed the manager asking what was happening and enquired as to whether he would honour our booking but did not receive a reply. We took a chance and turned up at the hotel. When we arrived at 8 am the young guy on reception knew nothing of our booking and telephoned the manager who also seemed unaware, luckily they did have rooms available. ||||Although the décor and furnishings were of a decent standard the quality of building was not. The balcony door could not be opened or closed without a struggle and there was a large gap between the door frame and the wall. At one point the whole frame dislodged with a gust of wind. The air conditioning unit was noisy and was fitted to the balcony window, thereby at night with the curtains drawn, was inefficient and vibrated. The bathroom floor flooded during a shower and did not drain away effectively leaving a film of slippy soapy suds. The bathroom tiles had not received a proper clean for some time. There were a couple of dirty dishes left outside an adjacent bedroom upon our arrival, and were still there when we departed two days later. ||||In summary this hotel has great potential if staff receive proper training and issues with the building...

Very very unprofessional staff, room was nice... the whole night AC keeps on & off, they have set certain settings with electricity which leads to lot of voltage fluctuations. They have unique way of serving complimentary breakfast . First of all you have to reach their roof restaurant any how by 10am, if you get late even by 5-10 mins then they dont serve you, secondly If their are 3 dishes available in breakfast then a person can only order once and that to a single dish... not even multiple.. what kind of complimentary breakfast is this???... we check in around 10pm at night and the staff available at reception simply said no to lift our luggage.. their was no water in our room, room service number was not working and when we reached reception , they all were sleeping and after lot of requests he provided us water... no support from OYO.. we booked room in june 2018 end. Do not get trap by its low cost traiff plans including breakfast.. the staff available at night is the main culprit of ruin image of this hotel..they fight with every customer, bad attitude. I would request the owner to change them at the earliest. the room is good and...

It was very far from Ram Jhula. We had to search for the hotel. It was at the end of the city. When we entered the hotel, we saw beer bottles all over the floor. It was so hot out there and the electricity was not there. We arrived at 11.55, still our rooms were not ready. Bathroom and rooms were not at all clean. Spider webs all over there. We asked for the food, we want to pay and order but he said that the kitchen chef is out for an emergency. AC buttons are not working. Bathroom doesn't have proper drainage. TV is not getting on. At last we were given the menu, and the foods were too costly. We left the hotel a day early. Staff was not at all...
