North Star Hotel, Dum Dum — Hotel in West Bengal

The staff is really not cooperative, the manager in the reception at night was very rude. I had come before check in time and since they didn't have early check in i dropped my luggage at reception and went about my day. When i come at night and request them to show me to my room, after a long day and without having the chance to freshen up after my travel, the manager insists on completing filling up the form and submitting my aadhaar before i check in. Since I had soft copy aadhaar I asked him that I'll go to the room and send it on WhatsApp in 5 minutes since I need to use the washroom urgently. He said no. He said we can't do that. I mean what kind of insensitivity is this. Like you can't show your guest some trust, like I'm not gonna send the aadhaar once I check in ? And i even showed it to him and filled up the form, STILL! They have an inclusive breakfast plan which is useless they will only offer one option like poha, not even an alternative simple option like omlette bread, which starts at 8 am. Since I had to leave I requested at 7.55 to bring tea and that also the staff said after 8 o clock milega. OKAY. The washroom has hot water but not in the shower, only in the tap so u gotta use the bucket if you want to shower with hot water. Also when the staff brought in the tea to my room, he knocked once and straight away went to open the door himself, didn't even wait 10 seconds for me to open the door. Like how can you do that ? No plus point for being considerate to women guests. Only positive was the room is clean and it's located reasonably close to the airport if that's what you're looking for. I mean I know it's not a 5 star but simple things like improving your behaviour towards women will definitely help, even if I ignore the lousy breakfast and hot...

I enjoyed my stay for nearly 35 days at North Star Hotel, Private Road, Dum Dum during my visit to India in Feb-Mar’23 while travelling from Melbourne, Australia with family. I was searching for a good hotel before coming to India with good location and other facilities and found this hotel on google search. The review was good on the internet, so I chose to stay there, initially for 3 nights but later continued for another 32 days. I must say it’s THE BEST HOTEL I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay in India. The hotel location was excellent, just 2 minutes to Nager Bazar crossing but also 5 minutes auto ride to Dum Dum Metro station. A very comfortable and high-quality room (#33) with 3 beds and big attached bathroom. I must share my experience of high-quality room service for well trained and behaved staffs for a very high degree of hospitable, super proactive and always ready for every need of mine. Thank you so much Mr. Deepak, Mr. Suman and the team for your help and support. I also must say each one in the front desk were very efficient, very pleasant, and super helpful. Since I was travelling different places across India, Mr. Suman helped me with my booking/re-booking for the room I wanted with a very short notice. Overall, it was a very memorable and pleasant stay North Start Hotel, and I highly recommend everyone to stay there if you are travelling in Kolkata and want to experience North Kolkata with great local shopping and restaurants.
