My early evening arrival into Chennai compelled me to pre book a room & I chose his one from the Lonely Planet website for bookings on the basis of centrality & price. It was not the cheapest but it was close.|| I paid 3680 rupees in advance for my 1st two nights in South India fully aware that there was a small booking commission and that I could just come to city center and "wing it".That works out to a bit more than $28.00 a night.Averitable king's ransom in India. So even though I knew it was two star I expected a it more.|| After shelling out the rupees the young portr grabbed my fully loaded medium- sized Thai knockoff backpack and ripped off the grab loop att the top.The lock clattered to the floor of the lift.I did not completely lose my cool but I promptly shouldered it & my lose brief case & was directed to # 104.|| The room was fine. They had over cooled the room and had Ac set on 16 degrees centigrade & the ceiling fan was spinning like a mad dervish. The bathroom lacked hot water but a bit of warm water came out in the early morning. Not much of a problem in steamy Madras but for that almost first world price I think it should be available.|| It had a big plastic toilet flushing and washing bucket which Infound very helpful for clothes washing. All the TV stations except sports were in Hindi or Tamil..another minus.|| My largest gripe with this place is that when I asked/insisted that they fix my bag they had some some lunatic, wannabe "tailor" do a horrible job.I borrowed a needle( which I Have Chosen to keep!) and took 45 minutes repairing...

It has compact air-conditioned rooms with individual A/C units, flat-screen TV with a DTH feed with national & international channels, free WiFi and attached bath with hot & cold running water. Bed / bath linen were fresh and clean, rooms are typically cleaned once a day, in the afternoon. The front desk and staff were cordial, efficient and helpful. Check-in / check-out time is 24hours. Payments are accepted both in cash & cards. ||||The hotel does not have a restaurant but can provide tea / coffee and toast / eggs. For regular South Indian (and some North Indian) meals and snacks, hotel Shiva Sagar is close by. ||||I recently made a day trip to the city on some personal work and stayed here as I was taking the train out in the evening. I had reserved a room over the phone (no advance payment required) based on online ratings. Check-in / check-out & billing were smooth and quick. However, the hotel possibly has seen better days and the tariff appeared to be on the...
Read moreRecently on a trip to Velangini we had a short stay stopover in Chennai. The purpose was exploring Chennai and finding a roof where you have comfort, safety and privacy as a family. Where you can be just within and relax while you are in. ||Selecting online City home in Chennai was a wild bet. It had good reviews and good image of cozy rooms and accomplishment facilities list. The prime reason was its Central location. ||Reaching City home, check in was smooth. The room we opted suited 3 of us. The room had an ambience, silent a/c, no bright glaring lights, private and clean. The only negative feeling in a way you get is the room is a box with no view. The washroom has essential basics. Good fittings. No hassles. ||The room service is available but the restaurant is not. Breakfast menu is bare essential. So it's good in a way that you spend a dayout for your work and return to room to relax. ||A Good option for short...
