Villa Monyet — Hotel in Desa Batukaras

We stayed for 3 nights in the "family surf" Villa..we enjoyed ourselves staying there. The room was very unique, has a cozy traditional design with mosquito nets..felt like living in the jungle.the AC worked well, no TV and the big fridge were really helpful eventhough they need to defrost the freezer part,so we can use it to put ice blocks...but the staff helped us to move the fridge to the balcony..and my husband defrosted the fridge himself.||The bathroom was nice and big, has a spot to hang your wet clothes and towels ||with transparant roof so the clothes get dry faster..there's a shower with a hot water, but they need to take care of the toileteries, fix the broken shower hanger and wipe all stainless steel with special chemical to make them look clean and shiny...no toothpaste & toothbrushes..but they provide clean towels. ||The bed was nice, bed sheets were really clean but they give us only quilt (almost the same like bedsheet)..without duner in it..so we got really cold at night cause we had no blanket..so i had to ask for more quilt the next day and they gave us some, so we slept better the next night.||The breakfast was good, especially the banana muffins. We could make tea or coffee anytime for free at their dining area and get free drinking water.||The staff were nice, no daily cleaning service..it would be good if they can collect the garbage from outside bin everyday and give us extra towel door mats..||We used the bycicle they provide for free...was fun!||Overall we had no problem staying there..had a really nice holiday..the beach was right in front of us..you can swim anytime, the restaurants and tourist area only 700m from our villa...very recommended.. We miss Villa Monyet already..sure we'll come...

Stayed with my husband and two kids (13&17) for five nights. It is a beautiful property and does have a great breakfast. The people that work here are extremely nice, and Acho was very helpful. It is a super chill vibe, I guess just a little too chill for us. |We stayed in the family room, and the porch of it is very lovely. Inside the room and bathroom were not very clean. There were many spiders and spiderwebs, including on the mosquito netting and sometimes inside the mosquito netting (not small spiders), and “droppings” of creatures we never saw. The bathroom had an unidentifiable substance around the base of the walls of the shower. There was no daily housekeeping, which the website clearly states there is. We had to take our trash out several times and continually ask for more toilet paper.|There were always several 20somethings, who were not staying at the property, hanging around the kitchen/restaurant. Seems normal, but they would be there until quite late (midnight to 2am) and were not very quiet, which is a problem if you’re staying in the family room since it is right above the kitchen. They also always seemed to kind of take over the restaurant area so there weren’t tables available for people staying there. |We did do the monkey feast and that was very nice and delicious.|All in all a beautiful spot but it just...

We stayed for two nights in three rooms at Villa Monyet. We booked the Ocean View rooms, while our mom stayed in the Green Room and my sister in the Garden Room.

Overall, I love how cosy, homey, and lush the villa area is. The site isn’t big, but it’s convenient and just across the road from the sea—you can even hear the waves from your room. The Indonesian food was just okay, but the Nasi Goreng Sunda was tasty and unique. I think they’re better at Western food. Try the banana muffin and the burger 🙌

Oh, they are also right next door to the Pizza Kebun guy. Must try their sourdough pizza! Be there before 6 PM to avoid the queue. Only open on Friday, Sat, and Sunday.

Since the villa is surrounded by plants, expect to see some insects. Our mom even had a bat fly into her room through the bathroom 🤣 But the villa team responded quickly and helped handle it.

Some parts of the bathroom could be better designed—for example, the shower area has no partition from the toilet, so the floor gets wet when you take a shower.

The staff are super friendly! You can even drop off your laundry the night before and get it back by the afternoon.
