We're travelling in Asia for a while so we have comparison and this place not worth the money. It's pricey for what you get. We always stay at homestays and they provide much better service for less money. Some of the reviewers said that the property is new. In my opinion it is left unfinished. The property is not a beachfront property. You have to walk through other bungalows to get access to the beach. The "garden" was disgusting, Cigarettes, medicine box, on the ground. There were no pillows to the outside furnitures so it is useless. In the room there are no wardrobe or shelfs to put your clothes on, only a bed. Aircon... because of huge glass walls around the bungalows, it becomes hot during the day and the aircon couldn't cool the room down. Cleaning... when we arrived the floor of the room was dirty, the toilet was not cleaned, yellow stains on the toilet seat. We asked the girl at the reception to wash up the floor, but she appeared with a sweeper. They haven't got key to the apartments, so don't expect cleaning while you are away on the beach. There is no outside shower or tap where you could wash your feet when you arrive from the beach so you walk through the room with sandy, dirty feet. When you come out of the shower with wet feet, the whole floor will be muddy, no door mat. Staff... if we asked something they couldn't answer, for example... once we were said that we could use the bicycles for free. Next day they came to us, that the bicycles are not free (most expensive on the island). Breakfast... they asked us the previous evening what we would like for breakfast. In the morning, they asked it again becasue they lost the paper or just simply forgot. We ordered espresso, but the girl came back that they have no espresso only white Lombok coffee, we said, no problem. At the end we got espresso. So we felt like in the tragedy-comedy and we just wanted to leave. Unfortunately we paid the whole...

Got this as a black Friday deal, so for the price not bad. But if it was full price I would have been a little disappointed.
The service was excellent, always someone to help at reception. Complimentary juice on arrival and all round friendly staff.
The location was good, away from the harbour. Very quite. Though in a way I would have settled for something closer to where life existed, as Gili Meno is already very quiet. It's around 20 mins walk from the harbour so a resting a bike is best. I rented a bike for the day direct from the villa.
Though the air con was weak, as the room is around 60% window making it pretty much a greenhouse. It doesn't help that the curtains are white too and let in too much light, so no need for an alarm. The sun should wake you up at 6am.
The garden/patio area looks prettyy bleak (see picture), with bench was made out of crate palates. Just...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our stay at Samalas. Our room was large, clean and thoughtfully furnished, with a great air conditioning unit. The staff were so friendly and quick to help.
The food was excellent - we had lunch there one day, as well as the daily breakfast. A previous reviewer mentioned breakfast was small. Honestly, we found it very generous, as you get a fruit platter, a main dish, fresh juice and a hot drink. I've included pictures of our usual - nasi goreng, pancake, fruit platter - all delicious.
The laundry service was quick and clothes returned cleaned and neatly folded.
The location is moments from the beach, where you can swim with turtles in the coral garden in the lagoon, and watch the sunset. This is definitely the end you want to stay on the island.
We didn't want to leave. Thank you so...
