Loved staying at Ana Warung! Super lucky to discover that it was our most desired venue & favourite place after a brief walk around the entire island, but also that besides being our home on Meno for our Xmas stay it is also a prize destination for fresh fish lunches and dinners which people flock to from over the waters. Speaking of dinners - there are a few tables you can take right up by the water where a dazzling starlit sky can, on a clear warm night, stretch up from the glittering ocean to the dazzling moon freshly escaped after dusk from behind the volcano’s of Lombok. We stayed in one of the 2 air-conditioned rooms with a little porch & were very comfortable. You wake up 30 metres from the beach & the most sought after snorkelling waters just out beyond the corals where large turtles and bright fish are to be found boogie-ing in the gentle currents. And we slept beautifully too, as this is technically the furthest spot you can find from the blessed island Mosque. There is little to distinguish the all night loud speaker prayers here from one on the neighbouring islands, or from a fly caught behind a heavy curtain, or a centimetre long depressed camel in the bottom of a plastic cup. If the call to prayer does not inspire a sense of responsibility rapture and duty in you, then Ana Warung is logistically speaking the absolute best place to stay on the Gili’s, from where you are unusually free to barely even notice its profound effect on every one else who does sanction the electrification of all-hours devotional open-mic nights. There is another noise factor to consider, the very un-devout devotees of all night discoteque-ing who drink drug and jive beyond the western waters along the brightly lit strip of Gili Trawangan’s Eastern shores. There is a desirably high-end style hotel & restaurant just a short walk around the NW-ern shore of Meno called Mahamaya which is directly exposed to all that. While we made use of their restaurant and espresso’s once or twice we were always proud to then walk back to Ana Warung where the aesthetic and design is much more appropriate to the surroundings and local where the noise from Trawangan is thankfully not present. Ana Warung’s staff were delightfully charming from the moment we arrived, and a pleasure to meet each day and to order fresh fish & margarita’s from. The couple who run it are both present and disreet, with a very accommodating spirit to anyone who wishes to talk with them, and who might be interested in talking about music, and if there are only a few people around, maybe playing whatever you ask. Their lovely daughter also gave us Christmas gifts! We booked Ana Warung from afar, with no material knowledge of quite what to expect. Our concern and hope evolved rapidly once we arrived into relief, then surprise, then being totally chuffed that we - suddenly the cat’s with all the cream, had landed quite by luck perhaps the absolute best place open to lodgers, serving food & in business on the sandy beaches of a still earthquake-shocked, beautiful little island paradise. Highly recommend. P.s get there on a horse and carriage because....
Read moreFor me Ana Warung is absolutelly the best accomodation I could ever find on Gili Meno.
It is located on the East-North side of the island. Very quiet place, where you can relax on beach, which is right infront of Ana Warung, in the restaurant which is openned until late evening,or in a nice bungalow with terrace.
I was lucky, because while other tourrists needed to travel on boat to see turtles, I saw many of them just on the shore.
The staff is just amazing - I felt like a princess here.
When I arrived I felt sick. Therefore I needed to change a bungalow with ventilator only for the one with AC. It was no problem at all. As I did not feel well and I was alone girl here, nice staff came to my room after some time to check, if everything is alright. After that they brought me ginger tea which was like magical medicine here for me.
They are very proffesional, always prepared to help.
I even asked for special food (because I could not each much at that time) and they prepared for me what I wanted.
If you are looking for quiet place, where they will treat you like in heaven, for very good price, this is definitelly a place you are looking for on Gili Meno.
Thank you once again Ana Warung ❤️.
P.S. And sunrise is...
Read moreTOTALLY AVOID IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD food overpriced and they forgot about one whole dish (we were two people and we had one starter, two mains - they did not bring the main to my partner). after trying to explain he said ‘sorry my friend this is my cook’ - and what? from wht we found our after he just took a break and did not care. so again we ordered as I already ate and my partner did not. 10mins later, another table sat down, ordered food and got their dishes before us - what a terrible service!!! i asked for compensation/solution he smiled and left. Also we ordered two coconuts to drink - one was soo old the water was undrinkable (you can spot old coconut from distance or at least once you open it, so no excuse here)
I ate shrimps - overpriced, overcooked and nothing special, and definitely not for the price
after super long waiting time - my partner got food, tasted weird, would not recommend ordering squid dishes hear AT ALL
also we ordered two coconuts - one you could not drink how it was old, the...
