Temple Cafe & Seaside Cottages — Hotel in Kecamatan Karangasem

The cottages are tucked away in a serene garden setting. The sitting area overlooking the ocean is incredible. We sat outside for sunset and it was beautiful. With the lighting on the property along with the lanterns that are lit along the sea wall, it truly made for a magical evening. The drinks we ordered were delicious too.

We only spent one night and didn’t eat any food from the cafe. The room was small but clean. The bathroom was set up odd in that the whole thing was the shower floor and the drain was on the opposite end of the shower head. Nowhere to hang anything in the bathroom, but we improvised by tying our towels to the slates in the window.

Overall it was fantastic value for the price. I would have paid what we paid for the room just to spend the evening on...

We stayed in the "budget cottage" room so of course we didn't expect some high comfort but the room was really small. I had to move the bed so I could unpack my luggage (medium large hard suitcase with wheels). And we left the hotel with quite hurt back because of the mattress. The staff was really friendly and nice and the room was cleaned every day. But the meals were reeealy expensive. Little portion of beans (like five spoons) for 19k rp plus 16 percent service tax. Three little sausages (each of them 5 cm long) without any toast or anything for like 27k rp without the tax. We spent just for the breakfast almost as much as for one day accommodation... Definitely not a reasonable budget person's area...

I've eaten in this restaurant on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is absolutley excellent - fresh, homemade, tasty. There's a great selection on the menu and you have many options for western dishes, but also, great local Indonesian food . Try the Beef Rendang or Chicken Curry. Both are superb. There are also some really great snacks if you're a bit peckish and don't want a full meal. The Fish Satays are delicious, as are the Spring rolls. Staff are always great here and the wifi is fast. Everything you need in a great restaurant and far better priced than most places in town. I'd say one of the best places in Candidasa for a well priced, good value meal. Well...
