Read moreFrom all appearances, it was going to be a great experience. We were supposed to see the Balinese dancing show (slated to start at 8pm) while seated beachside. We got there at 730, the menu looked great, the view was great, the temperature was comfy, off to a great start.
The food was lackluster at best. My adult sister had a tiny hamburger on a big bun that was dry as a bone. The cheese wasn't melted, and they gave her maybe 15 little french fries. My mother had the beef rendang, which my husband and I had both had from other places to much jealousy. It tasted like regular beef stew (very bland stew at that) and the meat was very tough and stringy. My husband had extremely bland pork that tasted like a milder version of the sweet & sour pork we get at home. I had the world's most tasteless fried rice, a dish I've had other places in the area that had flavor. Heck, my local Chinese restaurant makes better chicken fried rice for $2.
The only thing we had that wasn't bland was the "rosella tea" I ordered. I've had rosella tea in a variety if places - it's always flavorful and bright pink. I ordered it here and it was close to clear and tasted like water and sugar. So I sent it back and it was replaced. The second glass simply had substantially more palm sugar in it and was closer to simple syrup than anything resembling tea.
All in all, the meal was extremely disappointing, and with some of the highest prices we've yet seen, I cannot in good consciousness suggest anyone come here.
The most disappointing thing, though, which could possibly have saved the night, was that there was no dancing. We stayed until 8:40 at which point we just wanted to go back to our hotel. We had confirmed with the hotel and restaurant staff earlier in the day that the show would take place and that it was scheduled to start at 8pm. But when, 40 minutes after its scheduled start time, there was no indication of anything else happening, we gave it up...
Read morethe food was ok but our waitress was very unpolite.
Edit (Since I do not want to give you my number...): She was very grumpy. We all were disscussing what we might have done to her afterwards... she acted unfriendly when we asked to order sometihing and was very annoyed (she rolled her eyes and blow out air through her mouth) she messed up drinks from at least 2 people on the table (they didn't come at all) The additional sideorders of two main dishes didn't arrive until half an hour after the main dish people on the same table didn't get their food at about the same time (but i think that's an indonesien thing) when the food arrived we sometimes couldn't recognize right away to whom the food belongs (since we are not indonisien and that kind of food is new to us and also the words?). But instead of helping us to find out who ordered the food the waitress got very unfriendly and annoyed again...
so... I hope that helps and you can understand what I am trying...
