Stayed here for part of our honeymoon and it was the pinnacle of our trip. The Alila staff gave us the warmest welcome, greeting us with refreshments, providing a buggy ride to our villa, and surprising us with a cake to congratulate us on our honeymoon.
The villa is extremely spacious and thoughtfully prepared: insect repellent, sunscreen, bubble bath soap, tanning oil, etc. are all stocked in the room. Ample drinking water is provided twice a day. The nightly turn down service is impeccable - they prepare slippers next to the bed, dim the lights, draw the shades, and leave a small treat. The large communal pool (open 24h) in the center of the property is extremely warm and pleasant to swim in, with an infinity edge worthy of IG photos. While we spent our entire stay at the hotel without ever leaving the property, the two restaurants on site left us fully satisfied and impressed. We also ventured down to the hotel's private beach which can only be accessed during low tide. We didn't get to try the spa services, which truthfully we found to be a bit overpriced.
While this experience was 5 stars, there are a couple call outs worth mentioning. Given the location, we encountered our fair share of creatures - including centipedes, mosquitos, and hungry monkeys. Centipedes in our room were a nightly occurrence: we spotted 3 the first night and 1 the second. We called reception, who sent someone to remove them. This didn't necessarily detract from the stay since it was somewhat to be expected and beyond Alila's control, but worth calling out for those who are squeamish. Also, the TV in our room was quite dated and staticky/pixelated. It wasn't the best viewing experience. Finally, a couple of our friends had called in to book us a surprise dinner reservation (their treat) at CIRE our first night. Something got massively lost in translation and we were never informed about the reservation. The surprise totally flopped due to miscommunication on Alila's part. Alila apologized and booked us the following evening at CIRE. We expected further action on their part to make up for their mistake but were disappointed to find that not much was done other than a reservation rebooking.
The stunning aesthetic and design elements of Alila could only be matched by the wonderful service staff. Everyone we encountered provided over the top service, from offering us ice waters after we hiked up from the private beach, to fulfilling our request for extra plantain chips. Many even remembered our names throughout our stay - what a lovely personal touch! We are grateful to the entire staff for delivering what will certainly become a core...
Read moreWhere do I begin? Amazing Amazing Amazing. From beginning to end we were treated like royalty. We arrived late for check-in and our bags were grabbed from us without hesitation and with a smile. ||||The grounds/hotel/villa - The grounds were immaculate. The fountains, the pools, the trees, the walkways, etc. They were attended to on a daily basis. If we were walking through the work zone, the workers would pause and greet us (again, with a smile). ||||Pools - The main pool was perfectly located and clean. Our villa pool was also very clean. Not much to add here. Dekti was very quick to help and assist us. Awesome guy. Both of the pools were awesome to swim in and relax next to.||||Food and Beverage - We went to both bars and both restaurants for multiple meals. Rudy and Mei were very helpful and kind to us. They both went out of their way to assist us. High quality on food, plus a great variety. Concerning cocktails, I consider myself an amateur mixologist and I was completely blown away by the high level of cocktails here. Two people specifically (Sapta and Yudy). These gentlemen spent a good amount of time with me teaching me new methods and techniques with the cocktails they made. They both added a significant amount of enjoyment to my experience. I did not expect this level of cocktail making on such a small island. Very impressive. These guys are gems.||||Show - There was a show put on by the local community’s temple. It was INCREDIBLE! It felt like it was a professional show. It was a huge production and was poorly attended. I think only about 10-15 guests were watching. We didn’t really know about it until close to the start time. This needs more promoting. Knowing more details about what the show is would’ve been helpful. We have shared this with management already. The show and “street food/food truck” style food was very tasty.||||The property felt very safe.||||We were invited to the General Manager’s cocktail hour. We were able to talk with the management team (Vincent, Duya, Ace, Anna) on a personal level and as a guest. We had some thoughts and they really seemed to care about our thoughts. Feedback was welcomed.||||There’s one more person, Victoria, who we really connected with. I could probably write a whole page just on her. Besides her making sure that our room was taken care of, checking in with us on a regular basis, setting us up with a place to shower after we checked out, she was so awesome. So many of the employees here cared for us in such a sincere manner, but Victoria was on another...
Read moreFamily of 3 from Boston. Stayed 3 nites and 4 days. Due to traffic and relatively narrower roads arrived around 7pm, coming from Ubud. We checked in and headed to Indonesian hotel restaurant. The Indonesian/Bali food was wonderful. The staff took the time to explain each dish. We had carried an opened bottle of Bali wine (from lunch in Ubud) and the staff was kind enough to serve that in proper glasses. And here we met Putu. The next 3 days Putu made our stay especial through attention to details. As we were curious of Balinese cuisine and drinks , he recommended drinks (mixed, beer) and dishes for lunch and dinners. Next day in the AM we took in the view of the grounds. Just phenomenal view to the ocean. We had breakfast in the International restaurant, complement for being Globalist. This was a la carte, with familiar and Balinese cuisine. And here Putu once again helped navigate the cuisine. The fruit serving was excellent, with a variety of mixed fresh fruits l. We were more found of a specific subset, and Putu made sure were got that subset for each breakfast. The villa was spacious with private pool and cabana. Outdoor (very private) shower included. We spent half of one day in our pool. The grounds are large enough for a morning run of 5km or more, which I took advantage of each day. For a nice PM activity, the large sized cabana by the pool overlooking the ocean was just nice. Very breezy with ocean winds to cool off the heat. And here Putu recommended mixed drinks for cooling down. From this cabana there is a set of stairs to go to the ocean level for a small private beach. The steps are a bit over 600. Thus 1200+ for round trip. This alone will give you a good workout. The beach is mix of sand and volcanic rock. We took advantage of the professional photographer photo shoot session. The basic set is complementary, but we got the full package (mix of hard and digital copies), which was worth it. During our 4 days of stay , except one lunch, we dined at the hotel restaurants. The quality of food and service was that good. |One evening Putu arranged for a prefix course dinner with wine pairing. Wonderful again. Fusion Balinese cuisine. From the gardeners to buggy drivers , the entire staff are friendly and courteous. We were blessed to have...
