Hotel Setia Budi — Hotel in Malang

You are probably looking at the reviews because you have to go to a bromo tour. So you are thinking hey, I just need a place to drop off my stuff and get some sleep right after you come back from the tour, that is available for a good price.

TLDR: find another place

This "hotel" is like taken straight out of a horror movie, it was so bad that it was close to comical, it reminded me off those 1star highway motels in American movies. The only thing missing is blood and human fluids on the sheets and walls. (I didn't check maybe it was there)

I had already read the reviews (don't read the ones from Indonesians, they are family or friends, there is literally a girl a few months ago who said "its like a 5 star hotel" if you are going to lie at least say something realistic. 😂 It's obvious they have gotten people to score it high to inflate the rating) so my expectations were already quite low, but damn, this was crazy.

So let's begin.

When I arrived the guy in the reception was smoking cigarettes at the desk, it was quite obvious that he was chain smoking there based on the amount of smoke in the reception.

I had to wait a bit because they had to "clean my room"

I then got the key to my room and entered.

The room had definitely not been cleaned as there was dust, dirt, dead insects and hairs everywhere.

When I saw this I started checking for bed bugs, there were no bedbugs, but don't get it twisted the room is full of insects just not bedbugs😂

You will see small black insects everywhere on the walls, there were also some small white balls that looked like insect eggs. 😂

The toilet had been sprayed with the shower head (I guess that was the cleaning😂) so the floor and toilet + seat was completely soaked. I tried washing my hands and suddenly my feet was completely wet because the drain is broken because of rust.

The toilet seat had piss stains that had burned itself into the seat, there is no toilet paper and the bidet thingy didn't work, I ended up not going to the toilet for the whole stay.

Both the window for outside and to the reception has a metal net that is badly attached so it is easy for mosquitos to get into the room, I had to kill a handful in the short time I stayed there. Because there is only the net you can hear everything outside and in the reception.

There is a fan in the room, although powerful it is so noisy that even though I am using the newest Sony earbuds which are supposed to have some of the best noise cancelling I could still hear it😂

They gave breakfast which was served Infront of my door however with the hygiene in the room I can only assume that it would be a health risk so I didn't touch it.

I decided to just say screw it and stay since I would be on the bromo sunrise tour the majority of the time, but this was crazy. Definitely an experience, one that I won't want again. 😂

Go look for some other place to stay and let the people who think this is a 5 star hotel stay here since they think it is so good...

aku tipikal orang yang agak selektif dalam memilih hotel, selain alasan utama menyesuaikan budget, juga strategisnya hotel tsb, jadi aku cek satu-satu ulasan hotel yang budgetnya sesuai. dan menurutku hotel ini worth it.

aku pesen di trip.com dapat harga di under 100K. awalnya aak ragu karena lihat beberapa ulasan yang kurang baik. tapi ternyata ya biasa aja. memang kalau check in tengah malam, gerbang depan sudah ditutup, tapi nanti akan diarahkan ke gerbang belakang yang buka 24 jam. nomor hotline aktif 24/7 bisa dicall kalau bingung dan disusul resepsionis nanti.

untuk kamar, standard aja karena harga segitu ya. kamar mandinya jg lumayan, cuma wastafelnya gabisa. kalau pagi dapat snack (roti) dan teh hangat. mungkin karena aku ambil weekday dan check in tengah malam, suasananya agak sepi gitu ya, tapi resepsionis nya sangat membantu.

lokasinya strategis, dekat dengan pasar klojen. kalau pagi bisa jalan kaki buat makan disana. tapi kalau malam, saranku langsung lewat gerbang belakang, jangan dari depan. karena di depan ada semacam angkringan gitu, dan banyak anak-anak remaja nongkrong. kalau untuk perempuan dan sendiri, kayanya kurang nyaman...
