Lembongan was our first stop on the Bali trip and I was overwhelmed by how beautiful the island is! So peaceful with an amazing view pretty much anywhere you go.||Two people from Oka 7 met us as we got off the ferry (which was a nice surprise) and carried our bags from the beach to the hotel. ||We were given Bungalow 8 - which was up about 20 sets of stairs (unfit Aussies we are!) but it's 100% worth it for the view. Every morning I'd wake up and sit on our little balcony and watch the sunrise. Incredible.||For what we paid, Oka 7 was great value. The staff are always around if you need someone, smiling and bidding you good day when you walk past. ||The room itself was basic but comfortable, with really effective aircon that we were pumping all the time. Wifi is a little slow but good if you're only really checking notifications on your phone. The only real downside was the bathroom is very dark - they need to install better lighting in there. The bed was a bit creaky but fine (if you have back problems this could be a different story).||The complimentary breakfast is basic but tasty (we loved their French toast!). It's a shame they don't open up the waterfront restaurant over breakfast, but I suspect it's because the general public would also want to come in and they're not serving at this time.||The small pool isn't quite as impressive as some of the other hotels, but we had a dip and it's still nice. You can pay a small fee to use neighbouring resort pools if the one at Oka 7 isn't enough. The restaurant attached to Oka 7 is pretty similar to the other ones on the island - really nothing special in terms of meals but great cocktails and smoothies to die for. ||We arranged a massage through reception and a woman came up to our room to massage us on our bed. She tried to charge us more than we'd been told by reception and it was a bit awkward. She eventually agreed to the price we'd been quoted but only gave each of us a 40 min massage instead of 1 hour. We'd recommend going to the Organic massage place a few streets away - they're only a little more expensive and you get a wonderful massage in a relaxing setting.||On the other hand, Oka 7 also booked us a driver to take us around the island and it was a great experience. The driver was patient and waited for us to explore the landmarks (we visited Devil's Tear, Dream Beach and the mangroves). Definitely book a day trip through reception while you're there, and take a boat tour of the mangroves (one of the best things we did).||Anyway - Oka 7 is quite simple accommodation, but it's just what you want if you're visiting the island on a budget. The staff are absolutely lovely and I'd recommend it to anyone who's able to climb a few stairs easily! Don't get your hopes up about the food on the island - it's really nowhere near as good as mainland Bali but the peacefulness of Lembongan makes up for it...
Read moreWe stayed at Oka 7 for part of our honeymoon in March 2024. To get there, we booked one of the fast boats from Sanur (takes 30 mins). I didn't realise the particular boat we booked takes us to Mushroom Bay and we should've got one that takes us closer to the hotel, so be careful of that. The hotel itself is set on a hillside near Shipwrecks surf break, which is just to the right. It's a nice, quiet little place with a gorgeous little pool. Our room was up a massive, steep hike of stairs, so in future i'd book a room closer to the pool, they all have sea views anyway. The room was dimly lit and internet connection didn't work most of the time, so i ended up paying for roaming and connected to internet with my phone. The aircon in the room was nice and cold and the shower was fine. For food, i like the restaurants directly down below the hotel. You can also walk to La Bianca (10 mins right of the hotel) that was lovely. We also went to Ohana's but it was just ok. We hired a scooter from the hotel and cruised around. I went surfing out at Shipwrecks but the surf was tiny, apparently it's usually bigger. I hired a board from one of the many 'Learn to surf' places shops to the left of the hotel, they have a good variety of boards to choose from. They also organise a boat to take you out to the surf and bring you back, it's around 2 mins by boat. Can't remember the cost but it was fairly cheap. We also went over 'the yellow bridge' to Mahana Point on the island of Nusa Ceningan. You can't hire a surfboard over there though, so that really sucked because it looked fun. The other activity we did whilst on Lembongan was snorkling with the manta rays. It was an amazing experience but a few of us (including me) got sea sick, so i recommend sea sick tablets if you're prone to it. For massage, i recommend requesting a lady called Arma at Organic Lembongan Spa. Hands down the best massage i've ever had and it's around a 5-10 mins walk from the hotel. Overall, i'd stay at Oka 7 again for a nice,...
Read moreShame about the noisy bar nearby - not suitable for families!
What we liked: Fantastic staff who were kind and helpful. I was also impressed with all the activities we booked via the hotel which were the same cost as elsewhere and good quality. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if quite basic and in need of renovation. Wifi was adequate but slower than a dedicated hotspot/4G Balcony is a good addition, especially with a power outlet and space to relax and dry clothes. The pool is small but cool and clean. Breakfast is fine - nothing more, we ate elsewhere most days
Not so good: Noise! The nearby Ware Ware bar has loud live music every other night with finishes around 2200 - fine for many people but not good for families or light sleepers. The rooms higher up the hill might have been quieter but again, climbing ~100 steps in the heat and humidity (+/- bags or items for the day) isn't how I'd like to spend my holiday! Expensive laundry - we've generally paid IDR25/kg but this was IDR40/kg Hard to find staff a lot of the time. It seems they're run on a minimal staff so at times it's hard to find someone to buy water/book activities etc. No option for water refills - neither the hotel or any local places have a water dispenser to refill bottles meaning we generated a lot of plastic waste. The curtains are for privacy only and don't block any light! The shower has limited/no hot water. It's never cold but swings between very hot and cool for a few minutes then stays cool - quite dangerous if...
