Absolutely incredible resort to stay in, could not recommend it more.
We arrived after a long journey and were immediately looked after with a welcome drink and refreshing towel. The check in process was smooth and we were greeted with smiles and excellent service which was a real hallmark of the stay.
Location 4/5: Located about 10-15 mins drive away from central Ubud, the resort didn't offer the opportunity to walk out into the main Ubud area. That being said, there were scooters available for rent, free shuttles to the main Ubud area at various times throughout the day and the tranquility of the local rice terraces provided a beautiful backdrop to the resort.
Room Facilities 4.5/5: Spacious room, comfortable bed, clean linen, clean bathroom, excellent water pressure and temperature. Daily room cleaning and turn down services were excellent and professional. Air conditioning was available, plenty of lighting, great views with a nice balcony. The furniture wasn't the most modern, but it was all well maintained.
Resort Facilities 5/5: Absolutely GORGEOUS pool, great place to lounge about in the sun and go for a swim. The infinity pool was clean and had an amazing view over the rice terraces. We generally had the pool to ourselves and it never felt crowded, and the highlight of the pool was an amazing floating breakfast. The resort also offered morning yoga sessions (very relaxing and beginner friendly), morning walks (beautiful gardens), a gym (very well maintained with dumbells, bench press, etc - not just treadmills!), two restaurants (see reviews of the food below), a sunset bar (we did not utilise) and an on-site spa (see review below).
Food 5/5: Food in Indonesia in general is amazing, and Kumeku's restaurant consistently delivered on that trend. Over the week, we had a range of traditional Indonesian and a few western dishes at the resort, and each meal was flavoursome, plentiful, clean and delicious. The prices were very reasonable and most days we preferred to come back to the hotel to eat because the food was just that good! We had a daily breakfast included, which always tasted great and filled us up. Very importantly for me, the coffee was great barista made quality!
Spa 4.5/5: I had the hot stone massage and body scrub while my partner had a body scrub, hair creambath and facial. The hot stone massage was absolutely incredible, very relaxing with the perfect amounts of pressure and temperature. The body scrub, while good, just wasn't as great as the hot stone massage. My partner also enjoyed her treatments, but would have liked a little more information on the products being used for her. The spa was also a little more expensive than similar spas in the main Ubud area, but this may be due to its more luxurious setting.
Hospitality 10+/5: I have the highest praise for all the staff members at the resort. From the outset they made us feel comfortable with their smiles and greetings. They were always available to accomodate our requests and assist us. Everyone, including front desk, cleaning, restaurant and spa, provided excellent hospitality and really made this resort the best accomodation I have stayed in to date. As much as we loved everything else about the resort, the service from the staff is the reason we will hopefully return here on...
Read moreThe less i say about this resort, the better. From the very start, the experience has been dismal. On booking.com, they claim that thy have rice fields view and stuff, which are cascading. UTTERLY FALSE. Despite seeing rice fields everywhere in Ubud, this resort offered no view of what they mentioned. The view, if any was blocked my trees. And even if you see outside the resort, the rice fields are just a plain ground with water, little plantation. No pleasant view in short. We ignored the deceiving view and took our lunch in Resort. We ordered a pizza for our toddler & after a long waiting when it came, as soon as we picked the slice, the cheese separated from the base, & we realised the the base was bought from market, rather than freshly prepared. PATHETIC TASTE. We also ordered fresh juices (as Bali is famous for its fruits & giving us a fresh one was not a task). Even then they served us canned juice. Another Disappointment. With knowing this resort will only be a waste of 20k INR, we stepped out the entire evening & night. The next day we had to shift to Alena resort, with the same management team, and we had to check out early. Upon calling them early morning at 7 am and asking them for a iron & ironing board, we were blatantly told that 'HOUSEKEEPING WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE BEFORE 8 AM & THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO'. Wow. With the kind of money they charge, this was the pathetic experience. For complimentary breakfast, we ordered One Indian item for our kid. We waited for 30 minutes for the same, & still it was not served to us. This was the experience, which was even clearly communicated to your staff at the checkout. We went to Alena after this stay, which is by the same management, & surprisingly, the experience with that resort could'nt be better. They checked all boxes in a superb way, from courteousness to helpfulness, to fulfiling our every small demand even (which included provided us ironing board & iron very early morning), make booking on our behalf at places. In short, pull up your socks Kuwarasan, the same management team is running another resort in Ubud, with comparable pricing, providing a very pleasant experience. WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING KUWARASAN TO ANYONE. There are much better resorts...
Read moreI had breakfasts and dinners here, because it is extremely close to my villa. They treated me kindly for a cupole of weeks, so I decided to come back to spend a day at the pool with my best friend, visiting me from Italy, as they offered a day pass for 50k. I did it because they seemed nice the previous times. The pool was empty (just another girl beside us). We had two meals each, huge breakfast and lunchs. We spend quite a lot of money. Despite all this things, when we were going a guy stopped me and told me we were not welcome anymore, because as soon as Bali opened the frontier for tourists they stopped accepting external guests at the pool. It was very, very rude. My friend was so badly surprised: she didn't expect this as the famous balinese hospitality! I felt ashamed I drove her there... Never again! I can get this policy in case the hotel is crowded and the pool as well (even if a less rough and more elegant way is simply charging an higher entrance fee, as the luxury hotels do)... But the structure is still half empty. So they basically kicked me off in advance. Totally unnecessary and unpleasant act. I have seen by the reviews it happened to others as well... Plus the works they are doing to build a new pavilion don't make this place very inviting at the moment: it will be like this for several months and the noise is very loud and bad. So, no time to be choosey, in my opinion. I really didn't appreciate how they where hospitable until the week before, and how they become contemptuous immediately after borders reopening. By the way, their place, their rules. I just dislike it. A lot. And this is my opinion: never, ever ever be rude with an usual customer. Even if you think he/she's a b-costumer because the hotel guests spend more money. I'm glad to go to spend my money somewhere else, if they don't need them. And I don't recommend at all this hotel, because I can see their customer care from this episode. I'll never come back for my breakfasts or dinners as I was use to do: they definitely lost me as a client. P.s. apart from my bad experience, my tip is anyway to don't go there in the next months (maybe until 2023), because the building noise is...
