What can I say, this place is just heaven. A beautiful private villa at the back of a traditional Balinese family complex. Ibu wayan (your host / matriarch) is lovely and very friendly. The villa itself is beautiful and very comfortable, set in a private courtyard with lush tropical garden and a private pool that's deep enough to get fully wet unlike many other plunge pools. The rooms and bathrooms are fantastic with super comfy beds and a lovely verandah to sit back and enjoy. ||The location is excellent, in a quiet little backstreet but with a couple of warungs nearby for laundry, groceries or cheap but awesome food, but only about a 10-15 minute walk to jl monkey forest and central ubud, or they will take you into town for idr 20k on a scooter or 60k by car||It's the little things though that make the place, from the delicious cooked breakfast brought to your villa, the multi-way travel adaptors provided, to the giant 20l fresh water dispenser included (seriously, every hotel in Bali/Asia should do this, 2 piddly little bottles everyday is nowhere close to enough and also a total waste of plastic), ibu Wayan has really gone the extra mile! ||Only minor drawbacks for some might be the lack of a TV (not an issue for us though), and some long life milk would have been nice for those who like milk in their tea or coffee, but otherwise it's hard to fault it for the price. Would love to come back and spend...
Read moreWe LOVED staying at Prama House (and Prama and Made). The place is just so beautiful, the pool and the garden are stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are huge and the beds are so comfortable. We had one day of heavy rain and I was glad to have stay put for the day and enjoy the beautiful view of the garden. Prama was an excellent host and Made's breakfasts were delicious. We loved staying on the family compound. You walk through and get a glimpse into the family's day-to-day life, they are so friendly and you don't feel like you are intruding. Prama is a guide so you can hire him to drive you around for a day or two. His English is excellent and he's a wealth of knowledge so you can get a real sense of the Balinese culture. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It is about 25-minute walk (mostly downhill) to Ubud proper - we walked to the Monkey Forest in about 45 minutes. The surrounding area has heaps of restaurants - Our recommendations are Cafe Vesper, just along the road and Cupit BBQ, about 5-minute walk. Prama's family have motorbike hire right out the front of the property. Stay here - you...
Read moreThere are a thousands of lodging options in Ubud. We booked this place after looking at other great reviews, and couldn't find one negative one. But after staying 4 days in a beautiful villa in Kuta, this place was a major letdown. We wanted to leave right away but didn't want to go through the hassle of finding another place in the dark. The compound does look close to the pictures, but the walk to this place is shocking - you go through an area where random people live in shacks, stray dogs, storage and construction with folks cooking and toilets. ||||This location is not our idea of a quiet family vacation spot. We ended up leaving a day early and had to pay for rescheduling all our flights as well. Unfortunately, our vacation had to end early because of this place.||||The hosts were extremely nice and friendly. We would have loved to enjoy this place, but it's just the place did not meet our expectations. One man's floor is another...
