The Joglo at Umah Sunset — Hotel in Pulau Bali

Our week at The Joglo was nothing short of magical. The house itself is a dream: a traditional-style home with stunning furniture and design details, a 10-meter pool, an open kitchen and living room, a swing bench, and a fish pond—all facing lush rice fields with unforgettable sunsets every evening. For one week, it truly felt like living in a privileged moment of life.

But what made this stay absolutely unique was the owners and their team. Their kindness, generosity, and genuine care went far beyond any 5-star service. The owner drove us to his favorite local spots, shared stories about Balinese culture and his own life, and made sure every little detail was taken care of so we could fully relax. This is something no luxury hotel can replicate—the human touch was priceless.

The location is perfect for discovering Ubud’s beauty—rafting, quad adventures, rice terraces, traditional villages, and amazing, affordable food. We came as guests and left feeling like family. We will come back, no doubt, and I’ve already told everyone at my office about this gem. Thank you for making this week truly one of a kind...

I’ve been to Bali many times; stayed in all sorts of properties from high-end, boutique, eco-friendly/green, private villa, but Joglo Umah Sunset gives me the most goosebumps that I knew this is the ideal idyllic life style and environment that I want to be in.

You will find all the elements meeting almost every 5-star hotel management standard but you have this privacy and home feeling — the vast rice fields and gorgeous view from every angle in this property. The “built” is genius — tasteful decoration, wood carvings, clean yet human touch.

Ngakan family runs and treats this place like their own home and I really respect their way of hospitality to their guests. They’ve done a lot of things that I’m really touched.

p.s. Make sure you get the omelet on your breakfast menu - the homey recipe is even better than restaurants. Make sure you nestle or meditate on the pavilion day bed feeling the vibration from your surroundings and the Qi.

Our family had an incredible stay at Joglo Umah Sunset! From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the owner made us feel right at home. He truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable, welcoming us like old friends and sharing his deep knowledge of the area.

The villa itself is beautifully designed, blending traditional Indonesian architecture with modern comforts. Our kids loved the spacious rooms, and the entire property had a peaceful, authentic charm.

One of the highlights of our stay was the amazing tours that the owner personally arranged and led for us. We explored hidden gems in the area, from scenic rice terraces to local villages. His passion for the culture and landscape shone through every step, and he was wonderful with our kids.
