I didn't want to leave! This resort is like heaven on earth - the perfect place to escape if you're looking to spend time somewhere warm, beautiful, and relaxing.
The staff was incredible and super hospitable; from the service in the restaurant, the spa, to the excursions, it was all A++. The amenities on the grounds were perfect. They have a full service spa, with great prices, and the food is amazing. There are 2 swimming pools for communal use by all guests, and the location of the resort is about a 5 - 10 min drive to beautiful beaches (depending on traffic and preferred beach). If you feel like heading into town on foot, it's about a 5 - 10 min walk to local shops and cafes. The resort also has a shuttle service available if you are looking to make a further trek - you just need to book one of the vans in advance.
As for the villas, they are phenomenal. I believe there are 21 (or 22) private villas and each one is equipped with a private swimming pool (with the exception of one villa - which is the closest one to the main communal pool). Each villa has a combination of an indoor/outdoor bathroom. Our room had a bathtub/shower inside with windows to the outside, which is where our enclosed outdoor double vanity was located (the attached photos may illustrate this better). Some villas have their toilets and tubs/showers outside with the enclosed vanity area, however our toilet was indoors in a private room off to the side of our main room. We were there for a friend's destination wedding, so we were able to see various layouts of the other villas as they had booked out the whole resort.
When it came to the wedding, it was perfect and beautiful. An intimate ceremony with 40 ish guests in the lush greenery of the resort's gardens, followed by dinner and dancing steps away from where the ceremony took place. The evening before the wedding, all the guests dined outdoors under the stars among a beautiful dining set up with buffet-style service.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone considering travelling to Bali. I know that I would stay there again, and I often find myself daydreaming of the time...
Read more🌿 I Felt Like Royalty in the 1700s — Magical Stay Surrounded by Nature and Kindness 🌿||From the moment I arrived at Plataran Canggu, I felt transported — like royalty in a lush, overgrown palace garden from the 1700s. The entire resort feels lovingly preserved, with a natural, slightly wild charm. There are fish ponds throughout the property (yes, they even provide fish food!), and the resident pea hens—two stunning birds who walk around as a pair—will greet you sweetly and accept corn from your hand. 🐦💚||There’s a buggy service to take you to and from your villa, but walking through the winding green paths is also delightful. The restaurant overlooks the pool and is surrounded by hanging vines and dense tropical greenery. It’s genuinely enchanting.||I also recommend taking advantage of the onsite massage—I got a deep massage and felt so relaxed, I actually fell asleep mid-session (which has never happened before!). The giant stone tub used is like a carved boulder—elegant and grounding all at once.||You’ll also find a majestic painted and gold 8–9 foot statue outside the lobby—it’s a striking welcome. And the staff? Absolutely incredible. Warm, attentive, and genuinely joyful. There's a peaceful sense of hospitality here that makes the experience feel intimate and heartfelt.||✨ Highlights:|- 🐟 Feeding fish in ponds + corn for the peahens|- 🛏️ Unique villas + buggy transport|- 🎨 Complimentary guest activities like Balinese dress-up, gamelan, and rock painting|- 🧘♀️ Serene spa + exceptional deep massage experience|- 🕌 Complimentary shuttles to sister resorts|- 🌿 Greenery everywhere — it feels like living inside a secret garden||⚠️ The only downside is the number of mosquitoes—so pack spray and maybe long sleeves for evening garden walks. Some small things around the resort show age (a few cracks here and there), but honestly, they just add to the soulful charm.||I only wish I could have stayed longer, but they were fully booked. I would absolutely return—this place has a rare balance of resort elegance and a homey,...
Read moreWe spent two nights here as the last part of our honeymoon and knowing Plataran as a brand, we expected a lot. We were picked up from the airport and checked in right after we arrived. They explained to us what we get and what we can do within the premise. We got to have afternoon tea and breakfast every afternoon and morning. There are a good many choices for breakfast and they even let you get more than one main dish. The villa we got was very spacious and we loved how easy it is to fall asleep in the bed because of the sound of pool water flowing and the air circulation from the front door to the back. The cleaning staff would come every now and then (twice a day, we think) to perform their regular turndown service, including mopping the floor and even closing the curtains. They provided us with flower arrangements on our bed and our bathtub. We also LOVED the jasmine soap because it reminded us of the flowers we wore during our wedding. And it's not just the rooms, but the Plataran complex itself was very spacious and packed with activities that you can spend two or three days just to do them. We did a few activities within the premise, including spa, making sambal, traditional Balinese dance and gamelan on our second day. We initially didn't think much about these activities, but they were actually very well executed. Even they had the chef for us to teach us making sambal while we chatted with him. On our second night, we had a romantic dinner which we thought was very thoughtful because while making sambal, the chef noticed our love for sambal so he provided us with many choices of sambals. Our appetizer even eloped with the chef's story of having sambal matah while fishing, so he gave us seared tuna with sambal matah. Traditional dance was taught with care and patience even with its limited time. Every staff is very attentive. You are treated not just as a regular guest, but as if you're a royalty. We think Plataran Canggu is a steal...
