Extremely disappointed with Hotel Minnella, I booked a wheelchair accessible room but upon arrival was told thst they had made a mistake and given my allocated room to someone else. I was offered a supposedly wheelchair accessible room on the 5th floor, instead if the ground floor as promised on booking. The room on the 5th floor was very grubby and dusty. It was also small and had one double bed instead of a double and a single. The throw on the bed was filthy, covered in food zbd make up stains, but the cleaning super visor said it was cleaned. Their only option for us was to divide the bed into 2 singles and reclean the room again., remove the dirty bin, mugs, and dead flies and cobwebs and hover all the carpet not just up the centre of the room! I reluctantly agreed to thus as there wasn't any other alternative room. I did not sleep well as the single bed kept moving and as I have serious mobility problems, I was afraid of falling off the bed. I got our evening meal brought up to the room as it was such a ordeal to get around in my wheelchair. Breakfast in the morning involves getting two lifts and having to ask for tables to be moved away from FIRE escape doors to get into Breakfast room in basement. Surely a 4 STAR hotel should be better than this. Checking out in the morning was frosty reception from the general manager especially, who I found to be very unprofessional. The list of problems is too much to list here., but I was very disappointed and was treated poorly as if it was my fault. Thankfully Yvonne who was our first contact on the day of arrival also saw the the condition in the room on the 5th floor. Agreed with us that it was unacceptable. Obviously, wheelchair users are not a priority in hotel Minnella. I seriously wouldn't recommend Hotel Minnella at all, some of the staff were nice but some were...
Read moreThe facilities in this place are extremely outdated and in dire need of renovation. The room we were given bears no resemblance to the attractive photos displayed online. To make matters worse, the bed sheet and duvet cover were visibly marked, indicating they were likely not changed after the previous guests' stay. The carpet emits an unpleasant odor, suggesting it hasn't been replaced or properly cleaned in quite some time.
To our dismay, they failed to provide basic supplies that should be standard in any accommodation, such as toothpaste, soap, and even a hair cap. There were no bathrobes or slippers either. Our disappointment continued when we discovered that the coffee cups had not been thoroughly cleaned, as one of them still had remnants of coffee from the previous occupants. When we requested new cups, there was no apology or acknowledgement of their oversight. It's as if they have no understanding of basic hygiene practices.
The TV remote was covered in dust and had a clammy texture, giving the impression that it hadn't been sanitised. It was evident that the room had not been properly cleaned or checked prior to our arrival. This level of neglect is entirely unacceptable considering the steep price of €160 per night.
I strongly advise against anyone subjecting themselves to the experience of staying here. It is a place that falls far short of basic standards and fails to provide even the most fundamental level of comfort and...
Read moreMagnificent hotel and spa with exceptional customer service right from the moment we checked in until we left. We felt like royalty. Elizabeth and John are so welcoming and Yvonne on reception is exceptional and so warm and friendly. Shane in the restaurant is also very welcoming and very charming. We loved the welcome tray and absolutely love Mop who is a beautiful labradoodle who is so friendly. I am hoping to meet his brother next time. Eddie and Ian drove us to everywhere we wanted to go and took the time to show us extra parts of town and made the effort to drive us there on a guided tour without even being asked. Elizabeth and Ian even brought their lovely dog Alvin in to meet us. Never again will I stay at such a wonderful and relaxing hotel and be made to feel special. Elizabeth very kindly gave us tea and cake whilst watching the afternoon racing and cake and bread when we left. This is way beyond what anyone else would do. John also kindly allowed us to visit his yard which we loved. We really appreciate the kindness we were shown and are already planning to go back. A must for horseracing fans but even those who are not into racing would love this hotel and the people who run it who are first class. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I will be back and hope to meet Mop's...
