So... this is my second bad experience here in short succession. The first time I let it go, we can all have bad days. But again the exact same experience.
I've been eating here since the day they opened the doors, and always called it my favourite restaurant in Clonmel. Tonight I brought my daughter for a bite for her birthday. We booked a table at 18:30 (Sunday evening), arrived 5 mins early. Our food hit the table at about 18:45 and honestly lacked it's usual freshness and taste.
At 18:50, while there was still food on all three plates, we were asked to clear our table. I politely said no and smiled. The waitress then stood in the corner and watched while we ate. 5 mins later, she approached again and asked could she clear out table again. This time, a litte frustrated I asked what was the rush? We have only been here 25 mins! She said OK and went back to the corner. My daughter (12) felt so uncomfortable that see shovelled her food back and asked me if we could go. We headed to the till to pay the bill & I was asked by the manager, "was everything OK?" I explained the above (again politely) and she replied "OK!", and held out the credit card machine for me to pay! Of course my daughter gave the next hour nauseous from rushing her dinner.
I won't eat in Kyoto Clonmel again. I must say I have not had this experience in either the Waterford or Kilkenny locations, so if you want to try check out...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant and were shown to our table. After a while, a waitress came and took our drink order. We saw food on the table next to us and asked what it was. So, we told the waitress that we'd like to order eight pieces of sushi and that we'd decide what to eat later. She said, "Why don't you order everything at once?" I explained to her that we'd order the sushi first, and if we were hungry, we'd order another dish. ENGLISH HERE IN THIS RESTAURANT IS A HUGE BARRIER. Then, she told us a second time that we'd have to order the dishes all at once. We explained again that we wouldn't do that. Then, she insisted a third time. We were already extremely irritated by her insistence. She seemed to be having a bad day and even took a deep breath in front of us. We explained to her that we wouldn't do that and that we could order more whenever we wanted. We were trying to be polite. Then they started speaking in their own language, which I didn't understand. Anyway, we ordered the food. The main courses were tasteless, and in the end, it wasn't worth it. Train your staff a little more. I won't be back, and I don't recommend...
Read moreWas there on a Saturday, booked table with friend. We both ordered a lot of food and even got some extra tea at the end and extra stuff to go. Our meal was cut abruptly and quite rudely with the waitress coming over and not letting us finish our tea that we then had to pay for. There were plenty of tables free but we were told by the waitress, 'I need a table,' which is fine but the tone and no explanation about their restaurant policy was frankly, an uncomfortable experience and put myself and friend both in an awkward position. I'm sad to say that although I love the food here, this manner in treating the customer is unacceptable and I will not be...
