Just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at the Oasis with my adult daughter.|The hotel is spotless throughout including the lovely pool area.|Although we went towards the end of the season the weather was still beautiful, averaging around 26 degrees C most days. Although there was a storm one night, it soon cleared.|The food at the hotel is fabulous. We stayed half board and there were delicious buffets for breakfast and dinner serving hot and cold food to cater to all tastes with plenty of choice and vegetarian options. We ate at the pool bar several times and the food there was also really good, as were the cocktails, but we were less keen on the pizza we had at the pizzeria on the self catering side of the hotel complex.|Despite what some previous comments have said, we found the beds very comfortable with good pillows. The rooms we stayed in on 3rd floor ( there are 2 lifts) had lovely balconies, overlooking the pool or the gardens. The showers were also really good and everything cleaned daily if you wanted. Excellent fluffy towels too but bring your own for pool or beach. There are drying racks available on the balconies. |The Maria Pia beach is about a 5 minute walk away through a lovely pine wood. I have mobility issues but there were places to rest on the way, so I managed the walk slowly, and it was well worth it, a beautiful beach! To hire a bed and umbrella it is 10 euros a day or 8 for half a day. There is also a lovely restaurant and a snack bar on the beach, both of which we enjoyed. |Alghero town is a short bus ride away if you don't feel like walking. Bus tickets are 1 euro from hotel ( plus about 10% charge) and valid for 90 mins from whenever you decide to use them .|Alghero old town is lovely, we got the little green open 'train' initially to show us round which has commentary in English and Italian ( probably other languages too). The only issue we had was getting a taxi back to the hotel when I had done enough walking. We found it difficult to get one one on occassions. Taxis cost between 10 and 20 euros depending on the company, the hotel will ring you one that costs around 15 euros to Alghero harbour. |We also booked the dolphin viewing trip which was run by Marine Biologists and excellent. Unfortunately the day we went we didn't see any dolphins but the information the staff give is excellent and informative and the snorkling great fun. I would say book any excursions early as some were fully booked when we tried.|We would certainly recommend the holiday but only wish Tui would fly to Alghero airport ( some other companies do) as the transfer to Olbia airport was...
Read moreWe had an amazing time at the Oasis hotel. Sadly, having made the reservation with booking.com several months ago booking.com cancelled the booking on the day before departure without letting me know despite the fact that we had also booked through them, the airport hotel for the night before departure. Having established that booking.com were completely unsupportive I contacted the reservations team at the hotel. Paula was really helpful and reserved the room which managed to reduce my stress significantly. |We arrived to find the hotel was very relaxed and grounds were beautifully maintained. We found everyone in the hotel were very friendly. Everywhere in the hotel and on the beach was very clean. |The breakfast was really good with lovely cakes, cooked breakfast and cereal. |We loved the barista and our morning cappuccino. |We paid to have a couple of evening meals which were delicious |The room was a good size with balcony overlooking the pool. We took a travel kettle having read previous reviews. The walls were very thin but the beds were comfy enough for us to have a good nights sleep. |The hotel is set near beautiful pinewoods which lead to a beach with crystal clear sea. The town of Alghero is within walking distance. We walked in several times and are both in our late 60s. We also caught the bus there having purchased tickets at the hotel reception. The old town is wonderful, with a mix of old walls and historical buildings, lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. |We fell in love with Sardinia and the Oasis hotel and will definitely be back, hopefully before too long. |Thanks to all the hotel team who made our stay so special. |My only advice is to book directly rather than use booking.com who have failed to correspond in any way to my questions or the official...
Read moreI have a bit contradictory opinion about Residence Oasis, and I will try to explain. Even though it is 4 star accommodation, it doesn't meet the level: rooms are spacious while furniture, windows, and doors are very old. We were first placed in the room that is close to bar, hence 2 nights we couldn't sleep because there was disco/loud music (disco is not everyday only on weekends). In additon the walls are so thin, and windows are not noise isolated (old style), so we also could hear noises from neighbour rooms (e.g. how windows/doors being opened/closed etc). After 2 sleepless nights, we were ready to leave the place, but first requested staff to change our room that would be far from the bar, which worked, and we could sleep. On the territory of the Oasis there are 2 bars and restoraunt, where is quiet good service and food. All staff/personnel of the Oasis is very friendly and helpful. As for the cleaning staff they were very friendly too, but we could not really see the difference before and after cleaning. :) they could leave garbage or wash just floor without cleaning toilet. The only justification is that yes it is hot season and the service generally in Italy is the same everywhere even if you tip cleaning staff. Good place for family vacation, but if you are sensitive to noises ask for room that is far from bar at least it worked for us. Our favorite place was shop with very friendly staff and owner, you can find almost everything you need there. It was not always possible to eat outside with child, hence we often could pick up some products there and cook something in the room: there are plates, cuttlary, cups, kettle everything you need if you ready to do some cleaning before and after cooking :). Despite of little matters we had...
