Hotel Restaurant Lewald — Hotel in Bolzano - Bozen

We stayed here for one night en route to Italy and would happily choose this hotel again. On the outskirts of Bolzano, it was not difficult to find, just be prepared to do a sharp left into the hotel grounds immediately after the right turn at the traffic lights. Secure underground parking is available 100 yards further up the road. You are given a key to this along with access keys at check-in.||Our room was on the ground floor in the building to the right of the archway; it faced the road but we were not aware of traffic noise. It was an adequately sized room, featuring light coloured wood and white decoration, somewhat minimalist in style, with a comfortable, large bed and a well appointed bathroom with a walk-in shower, all very modern. There was free wifi, a flat screen tv, individual bedside lights over the bed, and a nice touch was a vase of 'flowers'.||Parking is free as is the buffet breakfast and access to the new 'wellness' facility which I believe includes a sauna, turkish bath and sensory showers although we did not have time to visit this. I stayed one night at Hotel Lewald in Bolzano and, unfortunately, had a terrible experience that I feel compelled to share. Around 3am, I was woken up by a mouse jumping on my bed. I immediately turned on the lights, and it quickly disappeared, likely hiding somewhere in the room. Disturbed and shocked, I went down to the reception for help, but it was closed due to the late hour. In the morning, the cleaning lady knocked to clean the room, and I shared what had happened. To my surprise, she didn’t seem shocked and mentioned that there are “some animals” outside that destroy flower pots on the balconies, and that the hotel has to replace them. She also suggested that the mouse may have come in because of the proximity to the cemetery—my room overlooked it. After a sleepless and stressful night, I left feeling disappointed, especially given the lack of response or accountability from the hotel staff. Very bad service. We had our starters, waited quite some time for the main course being chicken filet with french fries for one, pepper steak with backed patatoes for the other. Then only the steak was served. Nothing was said, so we waited for the other dish. Nothing was served for almost five minutes. We asked what was wrong. It seemed someone else had received one of our dishes by mistake. But that was it. No other information, no solution. The steak would either get completely cold or my partner would have to eat it without the backed patatoes. He would have finished before I could get my food. We complained again. After three complaints the cold steak was taken away. Then the chicken filet came. Not with french fries, but backed patatoes... Still no solution was offered. Then I got upset and said we would pay for our starters and leave. But no waiter came with the bill. After waiting all together for 15 minutes without help, we summoned the bill, paid and left.
