Most notably, our room, Presidential Suite #520, had a bug issue. We woke up on Saturday morning with mosquito bites all over our arms. I also wound up with a large visible bite on my face which is still there five days later. We woke up with more bites on Sunday morning and when I leaned over the sink and brushed off my arm, see pic below of the insect that fell into the sink. I let them know on Sunday that the room would need to be treated for bugs. I’m not sure if mosquitos / bugs were coming in at night with turning on the ventilation system but obviously this is unacceptable and I am not at all pleased that five days later, I still have a mark on my face.||I was offered a small discount at check out in light of the bug situation. There is no discount reflected on my receipt even though I requested a detailed invoice via email, showing the discount given. I was thanked for my feedback and no additional / updated invoice was sent.||Clearly we will not be staying at the property again. We have actually stayed here many times over many years. At this point, the hotel is looking rather worn and is in need of a refresh anyway. Our “presidential suite” was rather rundown looking with worn carpets and not well-stocked with towels.||I booked this directly on the Bonvoy app and mistakenly booked for 1 adult. There were two of us. I was confused that there would be an extra charge as I was sure that I had booked for two but in fact, I had accidentally booked for one, so I said fine. I did not ask what the extra charge per person was but apparently it was 50 euros / night for my husband. Ok, but he went to the breakfast room on Saturday morning to grab two cups of coffee and was told “one per person.” The posted price in the breakfast room was 30 euros per person. ||It’s hardly a good value for money when you book their top tier room, find it disappointing, get munched by bugs, receive rude service for wanting coffee at 50 euros / day and was not given the professional courtesy of a detailed and...
Read moreThe hotel is really nice and the rooms big and well furnished, normally is also one of our favourites on the way home, however this time we were very, very disappointed!! Even if the check-in was done very professionally and the lady was very nice we had to wait until all documents were manually entered into the system. We came from 3 hour queue on the highway and honestly would have appreciated if the process would have been smoother (e.g. make a copy of the documents or just scan them into the system). When we asked why, we got told that privacy laws obliged them to do so… privacy just requires the company to ask for consent to keep the data for the minimum amount of time required to fulfil the purpose for which the information were collected, honestly this procedure could be easily improved, as I had to sign anyway for different consent (I’m currently employed as Privacy Engineer). In the morning even if we had a suite and are Mariott preferred guests, as we could only enter the room late at night we wanted to sleep over but got 4 different persons knocking at the door from 10 onwards…one even entered the room to check the minibar with us inside…is true we did not put the “do not disturb in the door” but first of all the floor supervisor should coordinate with the reception to know which guest has left the room and which has not, and second after the first person knocked the info should maybe be shared with the others…paying 300€ for one night and getting asked “when are you leaving the room” 4 times is not my idea of premium hospitality! Last at check out was not asked how was the stay, was not thanked for staying with them…when asked to talk to the FO mgr to complain I got told that the Room Division mgr was having lunch and I should wait 30-40 minutes before talking to him… not sure where they learned to work in a hotel but this is not my idea of...
Read moreIf you are using Starpoints to get free nights, the Four Points Bolzano is a fantastic value. At the time of this writing, the hotel is rated as an SPG Category 2 property, which means you don’t need very many points to get a free night here. I’ve stayed at many Category 2 properties before in the U.S., and I can assure you that none of them have as many amenities or have been as nice as the Four Points Bolzano. By no means is it a Category 7 St. Regis property, but it is clean, well-appointed and well-maintained, and I enjoyed myself far more than I would have expected from a Category 2 hotel.
The property is in a business and light industrial area of town, and if you are here on vacation, as we were, there aren’t any tourist attractions nearby and only one or two restaurants in the area, although the hotel does seem to have a nice restaurant and bar, neither of which we had the opportunity to try. However, it is easy enough to catch a #10 bus into town and back, as they run pretty frequently, even late-ish and on weekends. The #10 buses stop nearby and take you right into the main square and the center of town, where there are restaurants and tourist attractions aplenty. There is also a train station nearby, which has trains twice per hour that take only a few minutes to get to the main central station near the center of town. If you have a Bolzano Card, which is designed for tourists and can be purchased in town, fare for both the buses and the trains will be covered.
We had a great time staying at the Four Points Bolzano for our vacation, and the location was not a problem at all....
