I spent a week at Thico’s in Castellaneta Marina, booking three rooms for a family reunion. The property is very well maintained and clean, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches on the Ionian coast. Room bookings included one beach umbrella and two loungers per room on a well-kept and lively beach. The rooms were spacious and clean. However, a couple of aspects could be improved: there was no coffee machine or kettle in the rooms, which is usually standard in 4-star accommodations. Also, bathroom amenities like a shower cap, toothbrush, or beauty kit were not provided. One inconvenience involved a room assigned to one of our family members—it turned out to be an accessible room, which differs in layout and equipments from the standard room we had booked. After reporting the issue to the reception, we were told to wait until the next day, but unfortunately, no alternative was offered. So, I’d advise future guests to specify if they do not wish to be assigned an accessible room, in case this is important to them. Another minor issue: the in-room safe requires a key, which must be requested at reception with a €5 deposit. Carrying the key around is not ideal—a digital safe with a code would be more practical. On the positive side, the food was varied, delicious, and plentiful. A big shout-out to the chefs and the dining room staff for their outstanding service—it was truly memorable. The full board package includes a bottle of wine per table. While we greatly enjoyed the wine, we were surprised to find that soft drinks (Coke, orange soda, etc.) were not included and charged as extras. One other thing to note: checkout is at 10 AM, but the full board package includes lunch on the day of departure (served from 12:30 PM). For guests leaving earlier, a packed lunch is available, but we were not informed about this. Two members of our group left without knowing they could have requested it and missed out on a meal they had paid for. Finally, a special mention goes to the entertainment team—Manuela, Eloise, and Martina—who brought so much positive energy and joy to our stay. Although there were a few small issues, I was overall very happy with my stay at Thico’s. What truly made the difference was the amazing staff—from the restaurant team, to the housekeeping ladies, and the animation crew....

Read moreVery clean, all the hotel. Rooms are nice but small. Every room has a balcony and at least partial sea view. Shower near the entrance, part of the room, not in the bathroom, so more steam and warmth in the room. A small fridge in the room, very useful for us. Also, the rooms have climatization, but we couldn't use it. It didn't seem to work. The hotel has its own sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas (5 euro/set/day) and a beach bar. Nice and clean beach! Breakfast is good, close to a continental one. We had prosciutto cotto, salami, fried bacon and omelette and usual sweat pies and stuff, I would recommend the croissants. Also, 3 kinds of fruit juices, tea, milk and coffee. We didn't use the restaurant on evenings, we preffered to explore around. We visited the hotel for 3 days, the beginning of June 2022, it was mostly populated with old persons. But this was nice, no noise or agglomeration on the hotel. It has 2 buildings: one in front, near the road, facing the sea and one behind the first, the pool and terrace between those. We had a room in front, the sea view its nice, but the noise from the street at night are very strong - it seems the young people with cars and motorcycles are in love with this road where they can show their horse power and decibels. Till late in the night or early in the morning... Now imagine it's hot and the climatization system doesn't work, you are sleeping with the windows open and a motorcycle is racing on full power under your window... The receptionist explained us that the noise was because of a holiday in Italy and indeed it was. But the other 2 night we had enough noise also, even not so much like on 2nd of June. The perssonel is OK. Part of them are clearly beginners and almost unusefull for now. Very few of them know some elementary words in English, but they do their best. I met only one young lady at the reception which could really speak English. The cleaning team deserves the best, impeccable...
