As our flight would be arriving late in Catania and we had to pick up a rental car upon arrival we booked a room at this B&B (Via San Giuseppe Alla Rena 124). Our company consisted of three male childhood friends on a road trip in Sicily and, just for one night, we didn’t mind sharing a room with two double beds and a single bed and an adjoining bathroom. The room was cheap (70 euros for three) and clean. It was quiet once the air traffic stopped (around eleven p.m.). Contrary to what its name suggests, the bed and breakfast doesn’t serve breakfast, but we found a nice little shop selling coffee and croissants (Panificio Buccheri) and there is also a large bar nearby (Bar Parisi). For a late dinner we recommend the excellent Pizzeria Panineria The Simpson a bit further on the street (N. 109).||||From the B&B it takes you about 15 minutes to walk to the airport but Via San Giuseppe La Rena is a busy and not very pleasant street, especially in the dark. The B&B offers transfer to and from the airport for 10 euros (one way), which is said to be much cheaper than a taxi. ||||We had some difficulties finding the B&B, even with the GPS of our rental car and called the friendly landlady for directions. The entrance is located opposite a shop (Mini Mercato at N. 139) and you have to enter a small alley next...
Read moreWe stayed at B&B Aeroporto Catania because we had to take a plane at Catania airport in the morning. You can walk to the airport in about 15 minutes along Via Santa Maria Goretti. The B&B offers transfer for 10 euros (one way). For our party of three male childhood friends we had two double rooms and one single with a shared bathroom containing the loo. No sinks in the rooms. Fortunately there were no other guests in the apartment, so we didn’t have to share with strangers. Beware of the Booking.com descriptions of the rooms. They list rather more amenities than are present. Those present are for collective use. Our rooms were clean but basic. The bedding was good. There was no wardrobe, only a clothes rack. Once the air-traffic stopped the place was quiet. ||||People with heavy luggage should be aware there is no elevator and the stairs are quite steep. Like the bed and breakfast on the same street we booked upon arrival, this B&B didn’t serve breakfast. Nearby options are Panificio Buccheri or Bar Parisi. For our last dinner in Sicily we returned to the amazing Pizzeria The Simpson at N. 109 on the same street. The landlady was...
Read moreYes, you ask people to think twice before putting a review as people make living out of this. However, empathy doesn't have a place in business. If you pay, you expect a certain level of service / standard. In my humble opinion this place deserves one star for being luckily located in a close distance to the airport. That is all. The mattress was the worst I've ever slept on and the smell from canalisation so bad you want to vomit. Maybe nothing / very little can be done about the smell but you shouldn't expect your guests to sleep on such bad mattress and leave a nice review. Since people travel they expect to get a proper sleep not have a sleeplees night witn soar body just because you don't care. Not even mentioning the noise from the street / rooftop. In general the place is quite scary and I advice all to think twice before booking it.
Edditing my review to inform all that the owner started sending threatening and abusive messages after I posted the upper part. Think twice before booking. Not...
